“Communicating Effectively with All Colleagues, Even ‘Difficult’ Ones”
Communication is a very important key to life. In order for daily activities, tasks or
work, to be completed there has to be a form of communication. Communication is used in
everyday life. There are forms of good communication and bad communication. Good
communication is when everyone has an understanding of what is going on or what needs to be
done. Bad communication is when there are misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and
confusing going on in the process of communication. “The art of communication involves
listening and speaking as well as reading and writing (Silver, 2016).”
In the article listed above, communication really does matter and it’s a major concept to
day to day life. After reading the article listed above, I found that communication is a serious
thing and that everyone needs to take it seriously. Good communication can prevent a lot of
things that maybe bad or dangerous. While working with colleagues or colleagues in s school
system one important tip is to remember that everyone is a team. Some people may get
independency and team work mixed up.
While using team work, day to day problems can be solved, a lot of conflicts at work can
be resolved, more positive outcomes will arise, and there will be a better form of
communication. According to McDonald, “When it comes to meetings, in order to be a valuable
contributor to these teams, we should possess knowledge of the curriculum and instruction
(MacDonald, 2011).” A second tip is to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Everyone thinking process is different and unique. It’s good to remember that it’s ok not to be ok
and it’s ok to disagree. The last tip is to remember that everyone has their own voice.
With that being said, that means everyone should speak how they feel or speak up not
being afraid of who will have something negative to say; you should stand for what you believe
in. based on a Christian point of view, some other great tips for communicating with colleagues

would be to keep God first and in your heart, have a kind heart, positive attitude, and to treat
others the way you would want to be treated. With that being said, acknowledge that, “He used
rebuke when necessary” (John 8:47) and “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:14).
