CASE STUDY: Brittany and Marco Assignment
In a public preschool, there are two three-year-old students. The classroom contains
eighteen students and two kind teachers. Marco and Brittany are remarkably two very different
children. Precious Brittany is timid and refuses to play with the other children. “Children have
different learning styles, needs, capacities, interests, and backgrounds.” (Rhian Evans Allvin,
2021, para. 1.). Sweet Marco likes socializing with the other students and is exceptionally more
outgoing than Brittany. He enjoys playing and adores interacting with the other students in his
class. Brittany feels safer with observing the other people play.
Brittany struggling with open communication is the idea of trust and mistrust by Erikson.
She also may not like to interact with the other students because she is not prepared. In
essence, Brittany prefers to listen intently in class. “By recognizing these differences and using
instructional approaches that are appropriate for each child, teachers and staff help all children
learn.” (Rhian Evans Allvin, 2021, para. 1.). She usually enjoys playing with harder toys and
sitting in a corner by herself. Possibly at home, she may not be talking due to a lack of attention
from her siblings or parents. Developmentally, several factors can result in cognitive delays with
her slow speech. Brittany may not feel comfortable in her surroundings since she is not very
verbal with her teachers and classmates. I strongly believe that this frequent occurrence is at
home. I feel that Brittany is secluding herself from the other children because of her responses
to the other children.
CASE STUDY: Brittany and Marco Assignment
Providing Brittany with the reassurance that she is loved would suggest a perfect
example of building a relationship of trust. As Brittany’s teacher, I would show her that the
teachers and the classmates are safe. “Meeting these needs facilitates personal growth,
comprehension, and a deeper understanding of life and its complexities.” (Saul Mcleod PhD.
2024, 29(3), 438-444.). During circle time, the classmates would ask to sit with her and offer to
play games. My plan of action is to involve Brittany with the other children in fun-filled
activities.
I would kindly express my care and concerns when approaching Brittany’s parents. “So,
whatever you wish others would do to you, do also to them.” (Matthew 7:12, English Standard
Version, 2011.). When asking questions about Brittany’s home life, I would kindly administer my
heartfelt thoughts and concerns with her communicational skills. “What children learn is
shaped by the circumstances surrounding the learning. Experiences that are enjoyable are
reinforcing.” (Gordon and Browne, 2024, 13.). I may discuss her interaction with her siblings at
home and figure out if she is continuing to respond in the same way from class. Clarifying these
questions to the parents would help answer my concerns for Brittany.
CASE STUDY: Brittany and Marco Assignment
My favorite student Marco is sociable and heavily interacts with the other children. He is
engaging at story time and loves to read books. Marco also enjoys being involved in classroom
activities and playing outdoors. He substantially meets the educational and academic needs and
grows right where he needs to be. For example, Marco is sociable and gives so much joy to all
the students to see him share his toys. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other
up, just as you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11. English Standard Version, 2011.). I feel that
Marco needs to help sweet Brittany focus on interacting with the other students because she is
more reserved.
By meeting Marco’s basic needs, I would encourage him to grow at his own pace and
continue to be involved more in class. As Marco’s teacher, I would support him to stretch his
areas of interest in his surroundings. My goal is to have Marco encourage the other sweet
classmates to enjoy sharing their coloring pages on shapes and reading more. I desire to have
Brittany gain an interest in being involved with the things to lead them to do.
CASE STUDY: Brittany and Marco Assignment
By scheduling a meeting time with Marco’s parents to discuss the ways to engage in
activities, I would proudly express his achievements. I believe that it is in his best interest if I
help him learn and thrive in class. “Growth needs are more psychological and are associated
with realizing an individual’s full potential. These needs are achieved more through intellectual
and creative behaviors.” (Saul Mcleod PhD. 2024, 29(3), 438-444.). I would happily share my
evaluation of Marco’s development with his academic progress, and his ability to understand
the material taught in class.
In conclusion, I have successfully reviewed two of my three-year-old students in the
preschool classroom. Brittany and Marco have reminded me that all children ultimately require
a basic outline of needs met. Each child’s different needs are always extra special in God’s eyes.
My ultimate plan is to provide a preschool education that helps students like Brittany and Marco
to succeed academically. Requiring certain educational agendas for Brittany and Marco will
benefit their learning, growth, and overall achievements.
