In the Literacy Lesson First Grade video, three different strategies the teacher used to
facilitate student learning were having students whisper their answers in their hand and release it
as a whole class, having group discussions, and allowing activities such as acting out their sight
words to teach the lesson on things in the past.
The teacher uses a gesture where students are told to whisper the answer in their hands
and then discuss it out loud. I really enjoyed this part of the lesson because every student was
engaged and so eager to answer the question. According to research, including students in the
learning process improves their concentration and focus and encourages them to use more
sophisticated critical thinking. Students are more likely to get engaged in learning when their
instructors use a student-centered approach to education, which ultimately aids everyone in more
effectively completing the course's learning objectives (Engaging Students in Learning, 2023).
In high school and in my undergraduate years I enjoyed working in groups and having
group discussions. In the video, the students were told to share with their partners examples of
things that were used in the past. The students in fact did so and did so well! Students have the
chance to practice process skills—essential for processing information, evaluating, and solving
