There are three different types of churches. A church with small groups, a church of small
groups, and a church that is small groups. A church with small groups might have a variety of
different groups for a person to join. A church of small groups is made up of several small groups.
And a church that is small groups is a church consists only of small groups.
3. Explain the Tampa Underground micro-churches and why mission is important for groups.
Tampa underground is an organization that consists entirely of micro churches that are created
for a specific need or people. Their focus is on missions and multiplying.
4. Explain why training is essential to a healthy and effective small group system. (1 paragraph)
Without proper training and leadership, the group will fall apart. Proper training provides the
leader with the tools to cast vision and effectively minister to the group. This training has to by
cyclical. As you are being trained you should be developing someone else.

Cliques are closed, inward focused, unintentional, segmented, and has controlling leadership.
Small groups are open, outward focused, spirit led, fluid/multiplying, and intentional

The small group movement began during the later part of church history. It sought to get back to
the roots of the early church. Praying together, eating together, meeting in homes together,
doing life together. These groups saw how shallow and inward focused churches could be and

leader training in mind. It starts with reading and learning, an apprenticeship, and courses for
training.
