DMIN 852 Elaboration Phase Assignment
The problem I seek to resolve is that New Life Downtown in Colorado Springs, Colorado
lacks a Celebrate Recovery ministry. After completing the Ministry Development Plan for DMIN
851, I completed a poster (banner) in DMIN 852 using Canva for this Micro-Project. Because
Celebrate Recovery (CR) is an established and national ministry, the layout, color, scheme, fonts,
etc., that were used to create the banners stayed as true to the essence of CR as possible.
COLOR SCHEME
CR’s primary color scheme centers on variations of oranges, shades of black, and white.
These were the colors of choice used for the creation of the banners as well. CR does not require
promotional material to adhere to this color scheme; however, these colors have become virtually
synonymous with CR. The CR color scheme does not just say here is CR, or we have a CR. It
communicates that CR is here for you. CR’s familiar color scheme invites others into a place of
familiarity.
FONTS AND VERBIAGE
The CR and C/R logo are registered trademarks of Celebrate Recovery thus cannot be
altered; however, the fonts for Celebrate Recovery’s name are not. While not needed, there was a
strong attempt to find a font as similar as possible to the actual logo. While all three banners
stayed within CR’s color scheme, two of the three used CR’s famous verbiage, “hurts, hang-ups,
and habits.” This is done with the strategic intents of keeping cultural familiarity. Imagine
someone is visiting Colorado Springs and in jeopardy of relapsing so he or she searches out, then
visits, New Life Downtown’s CR for support and encouragement. However, nothing resembles a
familiar CR. Because CR is a national ministry, anyone visiting New Life Downtown’s CR will
feel welcomed because of the banner’s linguistic ease and familiarity.
