Hi Alexander, the role of a data analyst is to shed light on the patterns in data giving
insight into important aspects of data and using it to make effective decisions (van der Voort
et al., 2021). "Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the
day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world" (New International Version,
2011, Jh. 11:9). This verse shows that one can see well with light, preventing one from
stumbling onto things. This is the same with the role of a data analyst, where they shed light
on basic patterns which are helpful in decision making, preventing companies from making
ineffective decisions. "You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into
light" (New International Version, 2011, Ps. 18:28). This verse relates to the role of a data
analyst where they shed light on basic data patterns that are used in the effective decision-
making process. Before the discovery and use of data analysis, companies struggled to make
effective decisions, especially about customers and how to improve how the company
connects with its customers (Bergin, 2018). Data analysts need to incorporate Christianity in
their work, helping to protect consumers by protecting their privacy and not misusing it to
help a company increase its profits.

Hi Bruce, I agree that a data analyst's job is to uncover patterns in data and shed light
on essential aspects of data. Data on its own without analysis is hard to understand and does
not provide helpful information to help make effective decisions. A data analyst's role is to
help make sense of what the data means and how it can be used to solve a problem
(Kozyrkov, 2018). "He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the
light" (New International Version, 2011, Jb. 12:22). This verse shows that God, just like data
analysts bring light into something that has no meaning giving meaning to them making it
easy for an individual to understand something. "If you are convinced that you are a guide for
the blind, a light for those who are in the dark" (New International Version, 2011, Rom.
2:19). This verse relates to data analysts' role, where they help shed light on a data set to
those who cannot see what it means. A data analyst helps shed light on data helping solve
societal problems that may complicate people's lives (van der Voort et al., 2021). Data
analysts should use Christian values and the Bible's teachings to guide them in doing their
work well while glorifying God.
