Young earth creationist believe that God exist and created all things and the bible
gives an account on how that happens. Based on my reading the belief of the young
earth creationists is that the earth was created several 1000 years ago when the Lord
said, “Let there be light.” in Genesis 1. The strongest argument that he presents for
young creation is Noah and the flood. The Bible makes it clear that the flood was not a
regional occurrence but a global one. According to Faith form and time by Kurt wise, the
purpose of the flood was to bring destruction to mankind and all living animals, (Wise,
2002) evidence of this can be found in Gen 6:5-7, 11-13, 17;7:4. The rocks from the
flood can still be found on earth today and fossils within them as well. Fossils of
dinosaurs as well can be found and according to Wise, since dinosaur fossils can be
found it can be said that the dinosaurs lived in a pre-flood world. (Wise, 2002) Also, the
key result of Sin and death not entering the world until Genesis 3, the fossil record,
which is full of dead animals, must have formed after the fall. This rules out old-age
creationism and all forms of theistic evolution. (Wood 2019) The most difficult problem
facing young earth creation would be the age of the earth. Many scientist and
researchers believe the earth is old and is compatible with science. Old earth creationist
believes the earth is millions of years old while the young earth creationist believes the
earth is thousands of years old. With young earth creationist views, the flood is a
significant explanation for different kinds of animals and varies types of species. With
old earth views, it is believed that over a long period of time the variations of many
different animals and plants came into existence and not by a global flood.
