SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT
Abstract
Students are left with an astounding amount of choices, especially in terms of career choices.
This can leave them feeling stressed and overloaded. Career counseling can provide guidance,
by teaching them decision-making skills. Christian students can feel even more overwhelmed
when making career and life choices because they want to be make sure that they are following
God’s will for their lives. Thankfully, students can be given a decision-making survey that helps
to unveil their particular means of discerning God’s will for their life, and help them make better
life and career choices. As is apparent in what follows, students will find themselves either in the
bulls-eye approach, the Wisdom approach with biblical or pragmatic emphasis, or the relation
formation approach. This way, counselors can better help clients reach career decisions and
discern God’s will in way they are most comfortable doing.
