Summary
The act of integrating Christianity into the counseling profession has been seen as a
challenge, yet, by adhering to the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related
Educational Programs (CACREP), the American Counseling Association’s (ACA) code of ethics,
and the Association of Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC), it can
be implemented properly. Warden & Simmons (2024) discuss the purpose of the counseling
profession as having the knowledge, training, and understanding to diagnose and treat
individuals with mental health issues. While counselors utilize the medical model and the
psychopathological viewpoint, they also use a holistic framework, which focuses on a client's
current lifestyle and forms a treatment plan that incorporates existing strengths to aid the client in
achieving general wellness. Wellness is defined by optimal health and well-being, but it also
considers the Spirituality that clients may have, which can influence their level of wellness and
