SELF-REFLECTION AND SELF-CARE 2
Self-Reflection and Self-Care Evaluation Plan
It is vital to be well-prepared and confident in your skills as a clinician. Throughout the
course of this semester, I have learned several counseling skills and had the opportunity to
practice them and receive feedback. Being able to reflect on the feedback and apply the
information received has made all the difference in my growth. By putting much effort into this
learning process I have learned the value of self-care. Counselors are susceptible to stress,
burnout, and professional impairment so a quality self-care plan is the remedy for such negative
implications.
Feedback Received
Dr. Crable was an excellent supervisor who gave me beneficial feedback that I was able
to use right away, as well as some feedback that I am still working on implementing. She told me
to work on being more concise in my paraphrasing. Through watching my practice sessions, I
was able to see how I could make that change. Thankfully, I was able to display some
improvement in my live supervision with her. Another skill I was told to improve on was
immediacy. This is something I am still struggling with but will continue to work on. Lastly, I
was advised to work on reflection of meaning. This was a skill I did not fully understand in the
beginning and was able to do more research to learn how and when to use it.
