Abstract
After answering twenty-five different questions with different scenarios, it gave me much more
awareness of my own attitudes and beliefs and how that can affect me as a counselor. To be a
great counselor, it is important for one to be aware of their personal values to work efficiently
with clients that may have different values and beliefs than I do. In this paper, I will discuss
which three questions evoked the strongest reactions in me and why they did. I will also discuss
the personal and professional work I need to do revolving these issues.
Introduction
After completing the Attitudes and Beliefs Inventory it helped me to see what I need to be
to become a great counselor. Our values, our attitudes and beliefs affect our everyday lives. Our
personal values affect our behavior, our decisions, and the way we see ourselves and other
individuals. Every single person has their own personal values, and most were taught to us as
children and others we gained from personal experiences and situations throughout our lives.
Some people may have the same or similar values, but some values may be more of a priority
than the others (Barsky, 2019, p. 3). The questions that I found most difficult to answer were
scenarios that I do not have much knowledge or understanding of on the subjects.
