ASSESSMENT 2
Summary
The basis of this paper is to explain the survey results from the United States Institute of Peace.
This paper also further illustrates the insight on the results of the Conflict Style Assessment
survey.
ASSESSMENT 3
What were your results/percentages for each conflict style?
Based on the survey, I am most influential in being a compromiser and a problem solver,
scoring ninety-one percent in both of those categories. I scored a forty-two percent in competitor
and a twenty-nine percent in accommodator. Finally, I scored only eight percent in avoider.

Were you surprised? If so, in what ways? OR, was this confirmation? If so, in what ways?
I was not surprised by the results of the survey. Over the years, I have developed a "get it
done" attitude. I pride myself on performing to the best of my abilities and excelling in
everything that I do. I do not focus on recognition but more on building my work ethic and
passing along my knowledge to others.
What struggles do you face when addressing a conflict situation?
The struggles that I face when presented with Conflict, is how to deal with individuals
who do not have the enthusiasm to succeed. Hooker and Wilmot (2018) states, that intrapersonal
Conflict is an internal strain that creates a state of uncertainty, contradictory internal discussion,
or lack of resolution in one's emotions. Over the years, I have encountered some problematic
people who refuse to perform their job duties. As a manager, you must be able to identify with
these kinds of people and learn how to address and handle them without causing more Conflict.
Forbes, Korsgaard, and Sapienza (2010) states, when groups of people interact to attain
unanimity, interpersonal conflicts arise within business teams (Forbes et al., 2010)
What strengths do you bring to situations that require conflict management?
I am the person who tries to compromise within the group so everybody can be heard,
and everybody ideas can be used. I believe that I am a natural-born leader. I decided to pursue
ASSESSMENT 4
my education in management, so I will be able to learn different styles of personalities as well as
learn how to perform my career title effectively.
Identify two specifics aspects of conflict management; you can focus on improving your
effectiveness.
Two specific aspects of conflict management I can work on is to be more of an
accommodator and being more of a competitor. These two particular traits are traits that I need to
continue to improve on. Learning more about who I am as a person will allow me to control my
emotions when it comes to Conflict in the workplace. The energy a supervisor brings into the
office often transfers to the workers around. Einarsen and et al. (2018), states that Conflict
among team members often involve emotions; it is essential to explore the role of emotions in
the vigorous process of conflict management.
Provide one specific strategy for improving each aspect.
My first strategy will be to have a better way to address Conflict. I will start by analyzing
and understanding the individuals that I am surrounded by. Once I get to know them, then I will
be able to understand how to address them and their ideas. This will allow me to be able to
communicate with them effectively and as well be able to listen to them to be able to understand
their way of thinking.
My second strategy, I will stand up for my ideas and present them on my behalf. Instead
of always putting the team first, I need to stand out of the crowd more. This will allow me to
advance into the career or position I also want to let my ideas to represent who I am as a leader.
Provide at least one biblical truth that supports your development in each area and explain
the connection.
I scored high as a compromiser because I first seek to put the team/company first and
myself second. This also is my belief when it comes to my walk with Jesus, Luke 10:27 (ESV)
ASSESSMENT 5
And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." I will always
put God first in my life to allow him to lead the way.
Philippians 4:13 (ESV) states, I can do all things through him who strengthens me. This
is one of my favorite verses when I feel like I am unable to handle a situation. I scored high in
problem-solving because I put all my faith in allowing God to guide my decisions.
I sometimes struggle when it comes to competing with others. 1 Corinthians 9:24
(ESV)states, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize?
So run that you may obtain it." I believe in the work environment; a team effort is the best way to
accomplish goals as well as launch the company forward.
When you are on a journey with God, it is hard to decipher who is with you and who is
against you. There are so many snakes in the grass that even at work, you do not know who is
there as a blessing to you or a person to hurt you. I scored low in accommodating because you
will have to trust in individuals and allow yourself to be valuable. Luke 12:15 (ESV) states,
"And he said to them, "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life
does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
I scored the low in avoiding because I refuse to allow anyone to diminish what I worked
hard for. 2 John 1:8 (ESV) states, "Watch yourselves so that you may not lose what we have
worked for but may win a full reward." This verse reminds me to protect everything I have built
by any means necessary. This also allows me to attack conflict head-on, so there is no
misunderstanding in the end. I feel that this trait on intensifies Conflict more rather than solve
Conflict in the beginning.
ASSESSMENT 6
Conclusion
Overall, this assessment only confirmed what I already knew about my character. I am
focusing on my weakness to better strengthen myself as a better person and employee. Right
now, I do not feel like I am performing at a level that I can call active. There are somethings that
I need to work on with my communication skills. I also need to learn how to control my
emotions and do not allow outside experiences to dictate how I perform on the job. I will
continue to work on being better accommodating to others and becoming more competitive at
work.
