STRATEGY/LOGIC MODEL

Abstract
A logic model is recognized as a helpful tool for evaluating the efficacy of actions to address
racial inequalities in the criminal justice system. A logical data model describes the connections
between the things that an organization wants to collect data about without relying on a database
(IBM Data Studio, 2021). To describe the conceptual framework of an assessment, the logic
model provides the variables to be evaluated and the predicted relationships between them (Vito
& Higgins, 2014, p.22). The logic model describes how the program will go and how the
objectives, practices, resources, and outcomes will affect it. Moreover, it shows the effect the
project will have. A logic model is a diagram that shows the connections between the resources,
activities, outputs, and results for your application (Smith &Rafferty, 2020). Logic models assist
in locating program materials and enhancing program comprehension and clarity. The activity
sequencing and program assessment are described with only one click.

Introduction
The theory that underpins the program must be established to go through the process of
setting goals, objectives, and performance indicators. The rationale for pursuing initiatives to
address racial inequities in the criminal justice system is provided by the logic model for
planning and assessment. Some of the most prominent criminal justice policy issues in the
United States are caused by the high rates at which non-White people are stopped, questioned,
ticketed, arrested, or hurt by the police (The National Academies Press, 2018). It is
acknowledged that a logic model is a useful tool for assessing how well measures to alleviate
racial injustices in the criminal justice system are working. Communication with the stakeholders
is crucial for the logic model's efficacy. A system of laws, institutional procedures, cultural
representations, and other standards that reinforce racial inequity is known as structural racism
(Cusick et al., 2021). Adult Black Americans are five times as likely than white People to be
incarcerated. Their likelihood of having a family member incarcerated at some point during their
youth is twice as high as that of their white peers, which breeds mistrust of the criminal justice
system.
The initiatives for creating policies to address racial inequalities will be described in
depth and given a general overview in the program logic model. For policymakers, racial
inequities in the criminal justice system are a major problem. Previous studies suggest that
partisanship and racial anxiety influence elected officials to pass strict, racially unequal criminal
justice legislation, but academia has not yet addressed how and why elected officials handle
racial issues in criminal proceedings (Donnelly, 2017). Law enforcement authorities have
collaborated with politicians to create rules to lessen racial inequities in addition to practices in
police-public interaction. Yet, these actions may increase the likelihood of troublesome

interactions with exaggerated results in general (The National Academies Press, 2018).
By shifting police funding to better support community services like housing, healthcare,
and education, as well as more robust economic and employment possibilities, these
responsibilities are fulfilled (Walsh, 2021). The logic model shows the spatial representation of
logical links between inputs, outputs, activities, and resources or inputs that are connected to a
certain solution.
Logic Model
A logical data model is a model that doesn't depend on a database and outlines the links
between the objects that an organization wishes to gather data about (IBM Data Studio, 2021).
The logic model establishes the variables to be assessed and the anticipated relationships
between them to specify the conceptual framework of an evaluation (Vito & Higgins, 2014,
p.22). The logic model explains how the program is supposed to operate and how the program's
objectives, procedures, assets, and results will influence its course. Moreover, it illustrates the
impact the initiative will have. A logic model is a visual representation (a scheme design) of the
relationships between the resources, actions, outputs, and outcomes for your program (Smith
&Rafferty, 2020). Logic models support the discovery of program resources and the
improvement of program understanding and clarity. With only one click, the activity sequencing
and program assessment are explained.
Goals & Objectives
The goal of the sociologists' creation and implementation program is to achieve racial
equality within the criminal justice system. The model should specify the sequence of events and
the programs that must be implemented to decide on the most effective intervention strategy. The
programs put the ideas and strategies that have been studied into reality. The objective is to use a

variety of tools to investigate how a person's race may affect the decisions made by political and
law enforcement authorities in the hopes that the findings will assist individuals in these fields in
improving their practices.
Inputs
will include things like expertise, information, and skills that will be placed toward the
equity of policing and the criminal justice system. The program will require the mentioned inputs
to convey program quality. The information will let others know that in addition to the inequities
experienced by the United States' higher imprisonment rates than those of any other developed
nation in the world, the disproportionately impacts the poor and people of color (Criminal Justice
Reform, 2020).
Outputs
Reviews, customized seminars, and training are some of the particular outcomes for logic
model programs. Racial injustice in the criminal justice system is still a significant issue in the
United States, and discussions regarding police reform have escalated and shifted their attention
to how law enforcement interacts with people of color. After that, it is necessary to adopt
initiatives that are supported by evidence. The study's qualitative and quantitative data, as well as
how the community intends to support programs, will be the main focus of the logic model's last
section. The model will also take into account a crucial variable and how the results will be put
into practice. The model will take into account data from studies, practitioner expertise,
experiences from the past, and community inputs. The model will also make sure that direct
results match and will explain what is being generated and produced in the research.

Societies with class, racial, and gender hierarchies that unequally allocate access to
resources and rights are the cause of social inequality (Crossman, 2020). There have long been
questions regarding how race and policing interact. For instance, academics have been
examining racial inequalities in criminal justice participation, crime, and the chance of being a
victim of crime, as well as differences in stop and arrest rates among demographic groups (The
National Academies Press, 2018). It can take many various forms, including unequal access to
education and cultural resources, disparate treatment by the police and court system, and income
and wealth inequality (Crossman, 2020). Social stratification and social inequality go hand in
hand. Throughout the development and functioning of human society, there are primarily two
perspectives on social disparity. One perspective is consistent with functionalist theory, whereas
another is consistent with conflict theory, and the final theory deals with symbolic
interactionism.
Functionalism is a theory in the social sciences that holds that all facets of a society—
institutions, roles, norms, etc.—serve a purpose and are necessary for the society's long-term
existence (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023). According to functionalist thinkers, inequality is
necessary for society to operate and is both unavoidable and desirable (Crossman, 2020). Crucial
societal roles demand higher education and should be compensated accordingly. This viewpoint
contends that social stratification and inequality result in an ability-based meritocracy.
Functionalism holds that for racial and ethnic disparities to have persisted for as long as they
have, they must have served a significant purpose (Lumen, n.d.). The difficulty with this idea is
obvious. What good effects may racism and prejudice have on society? The "functions" and
"dysfunctions" brought on by racial inequality may be examined by a functionalist.
According to conflict theory, economic disparity causes a system of winners and losers,

7
which is bad for society (Natale, 2020). According to this idea, the difference is a result of a
strong group in society controlling a weaker group. Karl Marx is credited with creating conflict
theory, which holds that competition for few resources causes society to be always at war
(Barnier, 2022). Contrary to consensus and conformity, dominance and power, according to
conflict theory, are what keep social order in place. Conflict theory holds that people who are a
wealthy and powerful attempt to maintain their position by any means necessary, most notably
through repressing the weak and helpless. Conflict theory's fundamental tenet is that members of
society will compete with one another to get the most money and influence possible. Inequalities
based on gender, socioeconomic class, education, race, and ethnicity are frequently addressed by
conflict theories (Lumen, n.d.). A conflict theorist would look at conflicts between the white
ruling class and racial and ethnic minorities and use that history to evaluate the realities of
everyday life for racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S., with a focus on power and inequality.
By shedding light on the numerous settings and forms of inequality at the micro,
everyday level of social life, symbolic interactionism makes a significant addition to our
knowledge of inequality (Anderson & Snow, 2001, p.395). One of the first sociologists to study
race and double consciousness—the perception that one's identity is divided due to race—and
how that affects one's sense of self was W.E.B. DuBois. Race and ethnicity serve as powerful
symbols for symbolic interactionists as sources of identity (Lumen, n.d.). The interactionist
theory of inequality places particular emphasis on how small-scale interactions both reflect and
generate uneven power relations (Libre Texts, 2021). Interactionists take into account the issue of
how power is transferred in a circumstance.

evaluates the initiatives for developing policies to alleviate racial inequality. The strategy will
also offer possibilities for looking at the planning procedures for projects to develop laws that
will deal with racial imbalances. The process indicators will be created in such a way that they
will offer a quantifiable answer to the queries. Finally, the program plan assessment will
determine the indicators that are appropriate for the targeted results, such as the impacts that are
measurable and able to provide necessary feedback in developing policies to combat racial
inequality.

In Proverbs 8:13, the ESV says, "Fearing the Lord is loathing evil. I detest conceit,
haughtiness, the path of evil, and lewd language." The people of the Lord loathe evil because
they fear Him. This entails distancing oneself from conceit, haughtiness, and corrupt discourse.
This was discussed by Deacon Burke-Sivers, who saw a link between racism and pride. It is
contrary to the teachings of our Lord and those found in the Old Testament to believe that your
race is superior to that of another individual. It's arrogant," he declared. It is unquestionably
egotistical and arrogant to believe that your belief is superior to or more accurate than anything
that God has revealed (Gallagher, 2020). "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with sound
judgment," the Bible says in John 7:24 (ESV). Jesus emphasizes the fact that learning requires
obedience. In the end, rather than being informed, the Scribes and Pharisees' reaction is one of
revolt.

Conclusion
Setting program goals, objectives, and performance indicators requires first establishing
the theory that guides the program. The high rates at which non-White persons are stopped,
questioned, issued tickets, arrested, or injured by the police are the root of some of the most
significant criminal justice policy challenges in the United States (The National Academies
Press, 2018). A logic model is recognized as a helpful tool for evaluating the efficacy of actions
to address racial inequalities in the criminal justice system. The effectiveness of the logic model
depends on effective communication with the stakeholders. For policymakers, racial disparities
in the criminal justice system present a serious challenge. These obligations are met by
reallocating police funds to more effectively support community services including housing,
healthcare, and education, as well as more strong economic and job opportunities (Walsh, 2021).
The geographical depiction of logical connections between inputs, outputs, activities, and
resources or inputs that are linked to a particular solution is shown in the logic model. Social
inequality is a result of societies with class, racial, and gender hierarchies that unequally
distribute access to resources and rights (Crossman, 2020). How race and policing interact has
long been a topic of debate. For instance, scholars have been looking at racial disparities in
crime, victimization risk, and criminal justice participation as well as variations in stop and arrest
rates between demographic groups (The National Academies Press, 2018). Symbolic
interactionism significantly expands our understanding of inequality by highlighting the various
contexts and types of inequality at the micro, everyday level of social life (Anderson & Snow,
2001, p.395).
