important when the researcher needs to assess information with using
quantitative data. It has three main steps which are;
a. The researcher has to collect and analyze the quantitative data.
b. The researcher determines which data needs further elaboration so as
to create a quantitative data from it.
c. The researcher interprets and gives an explanation on the results.
The challenges faced with this method is that it is time consuming
especially when choosing the data needed for further clarication and
elaboration.
Sequential exploratory- This design explores the two phases of
qualitative and quantitative phase whereby the researcher commences
with the qualitative phase before exploring further on the quantitative
phase. The results on the qualitative phase helps in developing the
quantitative phase. This method is necessary if a researcher intends to
explore on an instrument that is not available. Therefore, in order for the
researcher to develop it, the information as to its variables has to be
known.
It has three main steps being;
a. The researcher has to collect and analyze the qualitative data which he
or she wishes to explore on.
b. The researcher then looks at the results and how to expand on it.
c. The researcher looks into the quantitative data given and interprets it
for better results.
Its challenges as similar to that of sequential explanatory in that its time
consuming.
Sequential transformative - This design is often necessary when the
researcher intends to conduct research that is meant to make
recommendations which are supposed to bring changes such as social
injustices. In doing this, the researcher follows the following steps;
a. He or she decides on the location to focus on.
b. He or she observes the community and identies what they may be in
need of.
c. He or she makes a recommendation on how to improve the social
imbalance identied such as power so as to empower the individuals.
This method only applies when a recommendation is needed to improve
the current position.
