CASE STUDY CRITIQUE 2
Abstract
According to provisions of the self-incriminating clause, it is against the law to force
individuals to give evidence that would incriminate them in one way or the other. Under the due
process clause, contained in the fourteenth amendment, which is enforced across the United
States, individuals can furnish law enforcement authorities with important information relating to
criminal proceedings. However, while citizens have this duty, it is limited to a voluntary basis.
For police officers, the due process clause is compulsory. I strongly hold that the different
decisions made relating to this case study are appropriate while adequate measures were taken to
ensure that the various sanctions were clarified to the law enforcement officers. It should be
stated that police officers are recruited with the primary goal of serving and protecting citizens
and their properties. However, some police officers are not only dishonest but also regularly
subvert the truth and, by extension, justice.
