Biblical Worldview Essay
Introduction
Romans is the sixth book in the New Testament. Written by Paul, the book of Romans reveals a
lot to us about Christian life and Paul’s great interpretation of the gospel. A countless number of
topics are incorporated within the words of Paul in Romans 1-8 and those topics are the natural
world, human identity, human relationships, and culture. Paul lectures many of the numerous
factors that relate to having a Biblical Worldview. In this letter is shows regardless of our
cultural background or even our ethnic groups, Paul shows us God’s love.
The Natural World
The book of Romans explains the creation of the natural world with chapter one and also chapter
three giving a clear explanation of the nature of the natural world. God, through His words, the
natural world was formed. In Romans 1:20 Paul writes “For since the creation of the world His
invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His
eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (NKJV). Meaning God created the
universe and He has shown His existence by continuing to present in our lives. Then in Romans
3:23 Paul writes “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (NKJV). Meaning
concerning God’s wrath, all people are without excuse and have a sense of right and wrong.
Human Identity
There are several times where, “we are created in the image of God” gets talked about in the
Bible. In Genesis 1:27 is says “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He
created him; male and female He created them” (NKJV). Also in Romans 8:28 Paul says “And
we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who called
according to His purpose” (NKJV). Paul is talking about Biblical Worldview shaping human
identity. Paul is telling us in Romans that we are not to judge others because God would not
judge us.
Human Relationships
“God wants us to have peaceful human relationships” (O’Connor, 2015). In life, human
relationships can be hard and often people find it very difficult to handle. Many people are
having homosexual relations. In Romans 1 26-27 Paul writes “For this reason God gave them up
to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another,
men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their
error which was due” (NKJV). A lot of people are turning against God’s word’s. Paul
understands that everyone is not the same and they will make their own choices but their choices
are not always right.
Culture
In Romans Paul teaches that there are many different people with different views and cultures
but regardless all people should be treated with respect. In Romans 3 28-31 Paul says
“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. Or is He
the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since
there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and uncircumcised through faith. Do
we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law”
(NKJV). Paul is teaching us in Romans that law is no longer confining us as Christians.
“Regardless of sex, religion, orientation, nationality, or group, the message is to be preached to
all peoples” (Frank, 2013).
Conclusion
Paul’s teaching of each of these topics in Romans shows that God’s plan is fair and just. The
book of Romans if full of all kinds of teachings and each one is very important in our Christian
lives today. We have all sinned at one time or another in our lives, so there is no one person that
is better than the other person and God has delivered a way that each human can be saved.
Romans has changed history as well as the lives of our world today. God passes on to us the
foundation for how to improve in life and live in correspondence to His word. On the way we
may stumble upon distractions but we as Christians need to know that through God’s grace we
can confront these temptations and ask Him for forgiveness.
“The epistle to the Romans is the true masterpiece of the New Testament and the very purest
gospel, which is well worth and deserving that a Christian man should not only learn it by heart,
word for word, but also that he should daily deal with it as the daily bread of men’s souls. It can
never be too much or too well read or studied, and the more it is handled the more precious it
becomes, and the better it tastes" (Martin Luther).
