Identify the three major shifts in victimization patterns that have been identified since crime statistics were
first gathered. Explain the causes of each. What is expected to occur in the near future and why?
Your Answer:
The three major shifts in victimization patterns that have been identified
since crime statistics were first gathered are the Early 1940's where crime
decreased, which was due to enlistment of many, including men in the
armed forces. The second is 1960s- early 1990's, where crime increased due
to the introduction of drugs and other weapons and also the expansion of the
population, and the third is 1991-2009 where crime decreased due to the
creation and expansion of technology in which we now have equipment that
can easily detect crimes and also the databases that were created to give us
better intel and statistics on certain areas of crime.
In the near future, I feel as if there will be an increase in victimization due to
an increase in unemployed people in the community, the increase in
population, and more repeated offenders who are around.

Compare and contrast the consensus and conflict models found in the criminal justice system.
Your Answer:
The consensus and conflict models found in the criminal justice system run
parallel to one another and both work for the common purpose of furthering
the protection of society. The conflict model protects the people from harm,
preserving individual rights that are guaranteed by the Constitution. It makes
sure everyone has equal protection under the law. Consensus model argues
that the organizations of a criminal justice system either do, or should, work
cooperatively to produce justice, as opposed to competitively.
