Sources of Activity: On April 4, 2017, at 06:30, I was dispatched to 227 East Memorial Drive,
Normal, Virginia 12345. East Memorial Drive intersects with Vaughn Road.
Observation: Upon arriving at the residence, I knocked on the front door. No answer, I walked
around the house to look around. The 911 caller stated to dispatch she was at the
residence, I found the sliding patio door was unlocked. I entered the residence, found the
victim, Natalie Lynn Turner (DOB 03/17/1996; SSN 434-71-2017) dead on arrival
(DOA) laying on the couch in the living room area inside of the home. In the kitchen area
at the table was the witness/ reporting party, Chelsea Ann Howser, Asian female (DOB
07/02/1995; SSN 490-22-2999). Ms. Howser was sobbing. Ms. Turner (victim) and Ms.
Howser (reporting party/ witness) , were close friends.
Arrests: No arrests have been made at this time.
Statements: Chelsea Ann Howser informed me during initial interview on scene, she resides at
319 Daughter Road Normal, Virginia 12345. Ms. Howser and Ms. Turner had been good
friends for 15 years according to Ms. Howser. She and the victim were roommates, at the
victim’s residence, up until a few weeks ago. Ms. Howser informed me that she and the
victim were scheduled for their routine run together. Ms. Turner was not outside as
planned by their phone call the night before , at 20:30. Ms. Turner had told Ms. Howser
she had to get off of the phone because of a knock on her front door. Ms. Howser,
concerned about Ms. Turner, entered the residence via the unlocked sliding back door.
Ms. Howser informed me Ms. Turner has been diagnosed bipolar, she had been taking
prescription medication prescribed to her by a psychiatrist. Ms. Howser informed me of
Ms. Turner’s boyfriend Zachary Allen Cain, (DOB 01/02/1995; SSN 333-22-4444).

Online relationship for a year, up until four weeks ago, according to Ms. Howser, they
met in person. Ms. Howser stated Zachary and victim had broken off the relationship
sometime last week. Ms. Howser informed me the victim (Ms. Turner) had told her
Zachary had a drug addiction problem and was controlling, that their relationship had
become ‘emotionally draining’.
Booking: No one has been booked at this time.
Evidence: Found on scene, victim’s IBM Thinkpad (Serial Number 05A5439) along with
prescription pills (both items descripted) found on table in front of the victim. Found
outside the residence when exiting, a brown leather wallet containing a Zachary Allen
Cain ID card and Social Security Card. The men’s brown leather wallet was found on the
back step, slightly under the bushes. Items found on kitchen table inside of Zachary Allen
Cain’s apartment, include a pair of men’s black leather gloves and a red Kate Spade
handbag containing Natalie Lynn Turner’s (victim) ID, along with a business card for a
psychologist. Items listed were bagged for evidence.
Additional: Upon securing valid search warrant and opening incident report (#5416) , I
proceeded to Mr. Cain’s residence, located at 410 Brown Street, Apartment #812,
Normal, Virginia 12345. I knocked on Mr. Cain’s door and stated who I was and nature of
my visit. Mr. Cain opened the door. I found the victim’s ID card and a business card for a
psychologist inside of a red Kate Spade handbag. This was located on top of Mr. Cain’s
kitchen table inside of his apartment. A pair of men’s black leather gloves were sitting
next to the handbag on top of the table. I questioned Mr. Cain about Natalie. Mr. Cain
denied having been in a romantic relationship with the victim and stated that he and the
4
victim were only friends. Mr. Cain stated he never had been to Natalie Lynn Turner
(victim’s) residence. During my interview with Mr. Cain, he quickly became
frantic, headed for his vehicle, ( a 2016 Nissan Sentra). Mr. Cain appeared to be head south
on the interstate.
