Introduction
The knowledge and full understanding of the importance of resiliency is to show how
the one cares and understands ones self and as well understands others. Personal resiliency is not
a “one size fits all” every persons experience is different and should be respected. The impor-
tance and need to understand wellbeing and mental health in the world today is highly over
looked and at times at most made as a weakness if we as humans chose to take care of ourselves
and our mental state and well being. According to A Manifesto for Mental Health : Why We Need
a Revolution in Mental Health Care, “We learn high-level conceptual rules about the nature of
the world in which we live. Even very young children swiftly learn complex information, vital to
their survival, but also key to their mental health. Tis shapes our resilience or vulnerability.”1
Knowing ones self through and through is what IT IS ALL ABOUT knowing ones limits, know-
ing when it is time to let go and let God. As well as many more hardships that come with mental
health and understanding ones personal well-being process.
In a world that has been through so much in the last four years and counting gaining a
since of personal residence is extremely important to stay strong during the hard times as one re-
flects on their past and grows in their resiliency for the future as life will continue to give hard-
ships. Many ways at which as this can occur as as growing in areas of life such as: The Reality of
Tribulation, The Necessity for Resilience, Biblical Foundations for Resilience, Biblical Role
Models of Resilient Leaders and Caregivers.
The Reality of Tribulation
One can easily look around them, turn on the television or scroll on their phone and learn
quite quickly that the world is a hurting place, the people are hurting and we need peace.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.2 The reality of it is, is that life
is hard life is hard for Christians. According to The Nature of Suffering and the Goals of
Medicine, Oxford University, “While pain and suffering are not synonymous, physical pain re-
mains a major cause of human suffering and is the primary image formed by people when they
think about suffering. However, no one disputes that pain is only one among many sources of hu-
man suffering.”3 The understanding is that we as humans cannot escape pain and suffering. It is
because of the fall of man in Genesis 3 that sin and suffering is here on earth and will continue to
be present.
According to The Nature of Suffering and the Goals of Medicine, “medicine, Christian
martyr literature— brought into cultural consciousness a representation of the human self as a
body in pain, a suffering body. At the same time, others, like those of Epictetus and the Greek ro-
mances, confirmed a more traditional Hellenic subject— a mind/soul controlling and directing a
body whose pain and suffering mattered little to the self’s real essence.”4 With the talk of the re-
ality of suffering it is important to bring to light that when we all go through hard times and en-
dure struggle that we have to recognize that the process is taking place so that we can mend it
with Christ help. Psalm 35:10 “My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, LORD? You
rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.”5
The Necessity for Resilience
The need of Resilience is so that we can have a better understanding of our self as a
whole and so that we can become better versions of ourselves. According to What Is Resilience?

“initially, the term was used in psychological studies that were trying to find out what makes
people able to cope with personal misfortune and unpredictable hardships. The related capability
to come to terms with or recover from (sudden) disruptions and crises in such a way that essen-
tial functions are maintained still constitutes the lowest common denominator of the traditional
interpretations of the term resilience.”6 Learning the importance of resilience and how it can
help us deal in human nature as well as learning most how to deal and understand how to cope is
how one goes through daily living experiences stressors and can get through the hard times with
help from learning and with Christ. Matthew 12:20, ”7 This verse reminds us even though at
times we may have weak faith in God will never rebuke us for it. Rather He will strengthen us to
learn and grow and understand more. According to Resilience Recipes : Making Space for Wellbeing
That Works, “Learning to sit with your uncomfortable feelings, objectively look at what they you
and create space before acting is a powerful resilience skill. are telling When you feel your emo-
tional temperature rising, with emotional regulation you can make the choice to turn down the
heat to a bubbling simmer, rather than crank up the dial, put the lid on and encourage it to boil
over.”8 When one understands the body and when the alert system is active only then can he or
she be better equipped for successful mental health and beauty of Resilience.
Biblical Foundations for Resilience
When one looks at the understanding of the side by side comparison of Biblical Founda-
tions and the understandings of theology of Resilience one can come to understand that they play
a big part in areas such as to bounce back from hard situations and life experiences, as well as re-
turning to the way one understands things to be, as well as maintaining strength, and never giv-

ing up on oneself. According to Biblical and theological visions of resilience, “In this way and in
many more, the Christian tradition serves as a repository of resources both
intellectual and practical– that are helpful for reassessing the modern construct of resilience.”9
This shows that Christians understand the need for Resilience and want others that they en-
counter to experience the same beautiful experience of love for oneself, understanding ones full
self, and care for ones self. According to “The Bible is full of examples of real people who face a
wide variety of leadership challenges. Their stories, forever archived in history, offer us great in-
sight into how to hold up under pressure and in some cases, how to bounce back from failure.
Just one chapter into the Bible, we see God using leaders to organize and bring structure to the
earth (Genesis 1:26–31).”10 All of these ways of understanding the ways of scripture and how
God so beautifully shows the understanding of Resilience. James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my
brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing
of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature
and complete, not lacking anything.”11
Biblical Role Models of Resilient Leaders and Caregivers
When one reads the Bible for themself and learns the many ways at which Resilience is
shown one will come to find that God uses so many different men and women to display Re-
silience. Some Biblical Role models that God chose to use but it is certainly not limited to is Job,
David, Joseph, and Paul. To start off, Job last every thing his good health, his money, and as well
as his family but yet did not turn his back on God. David was resident by winning the battle
through his faith in God, he had so much faith and trust that God with faithfully use him for His

glory. Third we have Joseph, his Resilience is shown through all the crisis that he had to over-
come in his life. Lastly we look at Paul, Paul has a responsibility to care and help others as he is
an apostle or an “spiritual father.” According to Trauma and Transformation : Growing in the After-
math of Suffering. “and a conviction that life makes sense and that things work out, despite adver-
sity. Resilience is not the result of temperament only; environmental influences are also cru-
cial.”12 As we see with the Biblical models Job, David, Joseph, and Paul life is not perfect, life is
hard but we get through it with the mighty help of God and trusting in Him. John 16:33 “I have
told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But
take heart! I have overcome the world.”13
Personalized plan
When I think of myself personally and how I want to be resilient in the “here and now” as
well as my future I came along several ideas. First is to practice personal acceptance of myself.
This is something that I have struggled with my whole life so to achieve this goal I need to work
on it. Second is to build health social connections, people that I can meet with on a day to day
basis that “fill my cup” rather than empty it. Third is engage in activates that value me and help
me such as working out, reading (Bible and self help books), prayer, etc. Instead on scrolling on
Social media when I have nothing else to do. All of these activities would help and guide me into
becoming more resigner for myself along with others.
Conclusion
In conclusion Theology of Personal Resiliency Paper as well as understanding the areas of
scripture that Resiliency took place in peoples lives is important to understand the Resiliency for
us as people. There are many ways at which we can go about learning and hoping in the knowl-
