Introduction
As a discipleship group leader, I have seen our group grow and mature in Christ over the
past few months. This report will reflect on how the group has progressed, evidence of spiritual
growth, and how well we have kept to our group's original vision, purpose, and goal.
Additionally, I will assess what I have done well and what I would do differently.
Spiritual Growth
Our group started with a focus on studying inner healing. During this time, we studied the
School of Christ's episodes. We also used the Bible as our primary source of study. As we studied
inner healing, we discovered that healing requires forgiveness, and we need God's forgiveness to
forgive each other. This realization helped our group grow in Christ as we learned to forgive and
support each other in a way we never did. Dave Earley emphasizes the importance of forgiveness
in disciple-making, stating that "forgiveness is a key that unlocks the door to personal and
relational growth."1 As we learned to forgive and support each other, we experienced spiritual
growth and a deeper understanding of God's love.
Ephesians 4:1-3 say, "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner
worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with
patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace." (Ephesians 4:1-3NIV). This verse emphasizes the importance of living out our calling as
Christians in a humble, patient, and loving way toward others, reflecting the spiritual growth the
group experienced in learning to forgive and support each other. I realized the spiritual growth of
the group as each one was sharing a personal experience of how they received forgiveness from
God, and that helped them to forgive themselves for their past mistakes and also help them to

forgive others. I heard each one's testimony of how they receive freedom when they receive
forgiveness from God and also forgive others. When they had forgiveness, they knew God better
and experienced His love.
Our next focus was on discipleship; I decided to study discipleship which I think we
should start with, but it is good anyway. This study helped us to understand that discipleship is
not just about teaching but also about modeling the way of Jesus in our lives. Dietrich
Bonhoeffer writes, “Discipleship means adherence to Christ, and because Christ is the object of
that adherence, it must take the form of discipleship."2 As a result, our group has started to model
the way of Jesus by serving others and sharing the Gospel with them. This study has helped us
grow closer to God and each other as we learned to follow Jesus' example and live a life of love,
compassion, and service. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God
is, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2 NIV). This verse speaks to the
importance of renewing our minds and aligning ourselves with God's will, a key aspect of
discipleship and spiritual growth.
Keeping to the Original Vision, Purpose, and Goal
Our group's original vision, The vision of my Discipleship Group, is to present an
integrated curriculum for spiritual apprenticeship in the Christian life with God, a set of basic,
sequential, and gradual studies that address our spirits and minds. Our goal was to help each
other grow in Christ by studying the Bible and applying it to our lives. I am proud to say that we
have kept to this vision and goal throughout our study. Francis Chan emphasizes the importance
of discipleship in the Great Commission. Chan writes, “The Great Commission was not just to

win converts, but to make disciples."3 Our Discipleship Group has stayed true to this vision and
purpose, studying the Bible and applying its teachings to our lives to grow in Christ and make
disciples. Colossians 2:6-7 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,
rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in
thanksgiving." (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV). This verse emphasizes the importance of continuing to
grow in Christ and being rooted in him, which aligns with the original vision and purpose of the
discipleship group.
We have used the Bible as our primary study source and applied its teachings to our lives.
We have also supported and prayed for each other as we faced various life challenges. We were
making sure to be practical in our study and help each other to practice what we learned. James
1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:22 NIV).
This verse emphasizes the importance of putting our faith into action and living out what we
have learned, which was a focus of the group's practical approach to studying the Bible and
applying its teachings to their lives.
Assessment
Our group has made great progress in our spiritual growth and kept to our original vision,
purpose, and goal. As a group leader, I tried my best to ask questions and direct the discussion to
the people who were talking infrequently during the meeting. I also encouraged everyone to
participate actively in the discussion. However, I could have provided more opportunities for
group members to lead the discussion or share their insights during the meetings.
In the future, I would like to give more opportunities for group members to lead and
share their insights to help them grow in their leadership skills and walk with Christ. Also, it
could be better if we started to study discipleship before the inner healing so the group could first

know why it is important to be disciples and how we should be disciples. Also, it was a good
idea that we watched the episodes during the week and then discussed them in the meeting.
Sometimes, we could not meet at church, so we did the meeting on Zoom. This was a good
opportunity, so we did not miss anyone who could not come because they were sick, busy, or out
of town.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our discipleship group and witness
the growth of our group members in Christ. Our studies and discussions taught us how to
forgive, support, serve, and share the Gospel with others. Our group has made great progress in
spiritual growth and kept to our original vision, purpose, and goal. Moving forward, I look
forward to providing more opportunities for group members to lead and share their insights, so
we can continue to grow in our walk with Christ.
