Beasley is the associate pastor and the head of our discipleship training program.
Development of Program
a.What process was used to develop your discipleship program? We spoke with
several other churches that have had discipleship programs in place and took their
processes into consideration and formed a system that works for our
congregational needs.

b.How did you assess the needs of your congregation? We assess the needs of our
congregation by meeting with them once a month and asking what we can do
better or differently.
Discipleship Program Components
a.What are the components of your discipleship program? At the moment, we
mainly focus on new believers and new members. Our goal is to help new
believers to grow in their faith and learn how to lead others to Christ; we also help
new believers learn how to study the Bible. We accomplish this by leading them
in one-on-one Bible studies, doing small groups, and then training them by going
into the community and delivering the Word hands-on.
b.How long does it take to complete your discipleship program? The current
program we have in place takes six months to complete. Upon completion of the
first six-month program, we then offer a leadership enrichment class for people
that feel they are called to a leadership role; this class takes eight months to
complete.
Results of the Discipleship Program
a.What percentage of people in your congregation participate in your discipleship
program? Currently, about 25% of our congregation takes part in our discipleship
program.
b.What positive results have you seen since implementing this program? We have
seen new Believers flourish in their faith and get excited about sharing their faith.

Through our program, we have seen people grow into their callings and learn how
to lead others and make disciples. We have been able to train leaders and
ministers and send them out to fulfill their calling.
c.What challenges do you face as you continue to implement this program? Our
biggest challenge is that we are a young church. We were established in 2017, and
we are still trying to gain the trust and support of our community. Our church also
took a big hit from covid, as many others did. We lost several leaders and
members, which made it hard to function. However, through the discipleship
program, we were able to train new believers to be effective leaders in the church
and community.
Student Response to Case Study
a.Does this discipleship program incorporate any of the elements that you have
studied in this course? If so, which ones? Yes. Mark Dever states, "The lack of
spiritual growth in people who call themselves Christians is often evidence that
they have been wrongly evangelized." (Dever, 2013, ppg220). This was evident in
many of the new members that we saw shortly after we were established. We saw
the need for proper training and began to implement a discipleship training
program. Dave Earley states, “Jesus poured his life into a handful of men who
mentored and multiplied others until the message of Jesus covered the known
world." (Earley, 2010, ppg2449). Our goal through the programs that we have
implemented is to raise up bold difference-makers for Christ and teach them how
to do the same. We want to see a change in our community, but we know that

cannot happen without training the new generation of believers. Ben Gutierrez
writes, “We must have a biblical balance when it comes to offering praise to man
and praise to God.” (Gutierrez, 2011, ppg79). Praise and worship is a subject
often overlooked in discipleship training. We understood the Biblical importance
of praise and worship and made a class specifically focused on teaching what
praise is, its significance of it, and its necessity in everyday life.
b.What would you add, remove or adjust to this discipleship program for further
effectiveness? I would like to add additional classes and small groups so that we
can have more intimate discussions with fewer people at a time. I would like to
also be able to offer more one on one training for those that feel called to the
ministry. I would also like to add resources to our website and social media to let
the community know that we have these resources available.
