STIMULUS QUESTIONS 2
1. In what ways do you think scientific thinking might be useful for both practice and
science activities?
a. Scientific thinking allows us to analyze and process situations where we, as
counselors, can consider numerous factors that could impact the outcome. This is
important when helping clients cope with multiple problems at once. According to
Heppner et al. (2016), “science represents a way of knowing and a way of
establishing relevant knowledge bases for the progression … “it is critical to
understand that science plays an essential role in developing the knowledge upon
which the counseling profession is based” (p. 17). Scientific thinking is helpful
for science and practice activities because it increases the chances for effective
and informed outcomes by utilizing critical thinking and identifying future areas
of research and practice.
2. Identify five activities you can do to incorporate scientific thinking into your counseling
