30 Bible Verses for Depression
Many find comfort in their faith of choice when depressed or facing difficult circumstances.
There are many religious texts across cultures that can provide a grounding feeling of faith,
either in themselves or in a higher power. For those who appreciate a Christian philosophy
regarding faith, here are several Bible verses about depression, taken from the New Living
Translation.
1. Psalm 9:9
The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
2. Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who
search for you.
3. Psalm 23:
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside
me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
4. Psalms 55:22
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to
slip and fall.
5. Psalms 91:1
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
6. Psalms 27:14
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
7. Psalms 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored
throughout the world.”
8. Psalms 91:2
This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their
troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
19. Isaiah 40:31
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like
eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
20. Isaiah 41:10
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be
against us?

they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.

all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

and it will be granted!
Getting Professional Help for Depression
Depression is a serious mental health disorder and the symptoms of depression can be
debilitating. Depression can become a chronic problem that persists for years if left untreated.
Even people who function at a high level in spite of feeling depressed, those who describe
themselves as living with high functioning depression, can quickly find a depressive disorder
getting the upper hand and negatively impacting their personal and professional life.
The sooner depression is treated, the better. It can be hard to take that first step and ask
for help, but there are effective therapy options for depression which can lead to a significant
reductions in the severity and duration of symptoms related to depression.
