Anthony-
Thank you for your input to this week’s discussion of Place, one of the 4P’s of marketing
for competitive advantage by businesses. Marketing has many strategies, but all these strategies
have one goal, this goal is to promote for the organization products or services by increasing the
satisfaction of customers (Thabit & Raewf, 2018). One of the ways on how this is accomplished
is by establishing a distribution strategy, which fall under the Place portion of the 4P’s.
According to Singh (2012), anytime Place is reference within marketing mix, it includes
distribution channels, warehousing facilities, mode of transportation and inventory control
management thus it is a mechanism through which goods and services are moved from the
service provider and manufacturer to consumer. Place is one of the components that makes up an
important part of the marketing mix. As you mentioned, is one of those components that is
usually referenced as a physical location, and while that may be true to the majority of cases
recent advancement in technology has cause those thoughts to shift into the virtual world.
According to Neger and Uddin, (2020), E-commerce is electronic transactions, which can be
expressed as the buying and selling of products and services and the transfer of funds, money,
data, and information related to the commercial transactions through the internet by using
information and communication (ICT) technology. E-commerce websites provide consumers
with flexibility in terms of time, price, and space, during their purchases (Sriram et al, 2019). The
delivery of goods is what provides the Place aspect of e-commerce, as products must find their
way to the consumers.
Anthony, you mentioned the need for businesses to understand layout of products within
their buildings, as it helps customers with product placement. It is perhaps just as important for

them to take the same approach to their e-commerce business since people tend to spend just as
much time browsing the internet for products rather than to walk in a store. The technology
available for business to utilize the same concept of traditional marketing mix is similarly
transferable to e-commerce. The Holy Bible in Daniel 12:4 says, “But you, Daniel, roll up and
seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase
knowledge” (NIV). God knew the advancements of technology would as He provided humankind
with the capacity to of increase knowledge in the last days.
