Article 1: Looking Beyond the Dyad: How Transformational Leadership Affects Leader-
member Exchange Quality and Outcomes
Authors of this article are of the view that research in transformational leadership should
be conducted not only outside the traditional framework of dyadic leader-member
exchange but in larger organizational contexts.
The factor of transformational leadership actually influences the quality of LMX
relationships positively, as inspiration via leaders brings about trust, thus strengthening
leaders-employee relationships.
Improved LMX quality through transformational leadership has positive effects on
organization commitment, job satisfaction, and employees' performance.
The article shows that there is more to what leadership can do by examining the wider
network of relations in an organization and therefore comprehending the effect of
transformational leadership.
Article 2: Transforming Service Employees and Climate: A Multilevel, Multisource
Examination of Transformational Leadership in Building Long-term Service Relationships
The article delved into the impact of leadership in service-oriented companies on both,
employees, and the overall organizational culture.
The authors employ a strategy to illustrate the impact of leadership on employee
satisfaction and commitment at individual levels as well as on team dynamics or overall
work environment.
Transformational leadership is connected to creating an environment that promotes
performance and service excellence which affects how employees act and influences

customer satisfaction.
Transformative leadership focuses on nurturing employees and cultivating a service
environment to enhance service connections that can positively impact the organization
by boosting customer loyalty and reputation over time.
Article 3: Reexamining the Relationship Between Thinking Styles and Transformational
Leadership: What is the Contribution of Imagination and Emotionality?
The authors examine the relationships of cognitive factors, imagery, and emotionality to
the effective transformational leader.
Imagination is said to be a strong attribute of the transformational leader because one can
conceptualize and relate desirable visions for the followers.
Leaders with emotional expressiveness have greater rapport-building capacity and
therefore better LMX relationships, where followers are more likely to accept
organizational goals.
It therefore follows from these findings that the leadership training should include
cognitive and emotional development to bring about the transformational leadership
behaviors.
Synthesis Paragraph
Transformational leadership and LMX quality are typically examined together because
researchers are interested in their interaction effects in explaining organizational outcomes;
recent studies have tested the separate and combined findings. Transformational leadership, as
explained before, is inspiring, empowering, and building trust, and has been regularly found to
have a positive impact on the quality of LMX, which in turn enhances organizational outcomes
(Coleman & Donoher, 2022). To this end, Coleman and Donoher (2022), feel that

transformational leaders create trust through building a closer bond within the LMX relationship,
which in turn leads to better levels of employee performance and organizational commitment. In
another study, it is observed by Liao and Chuang (2007), that "transformational leadership in
service contexts can enhance individual employee satisfaction and team-level service climates in
a manner that lays the foundation for enduring relationships between employees and customers".
Curtis, King, and Russ (2017), extend the discussion further by highlighting that
transformational leadership effectiveness is not solely a question of relational dynamics but is
influenced by leaders' cognitive and emotional attributes. More precisely, they underpin that the
imaginary and emotionally expressive leader can further deepen the quality of LMX because of
the ability to connect on a more personal level with followers. Together, these studies provide
evidence to support the argument that transformational leadership positively impacts the quality
of LMX. However, Curtis, King, and Russ (2017) also show that other cognitive and emotional
factors influence the process as well. As a whole, these studies demonstrate that though the
drivers for LMX are often associated with the leader, his or her unique personal attributes can
often also impact the quality and power of such exchanges.
