DB Research Question 1: How can a person become a successful leader by being humble?
A true leader is humble. Real leaders are not ashamed to show humility. When you think of a
successful leader the first thing to come to mind should be servant hood. Leaders are needed but
you can’t be a successful leader without learning how to be a servant first. The Word of God
says, “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be
your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:
43–45) (NKJV) To be an extraordinary leader today we are expected to be confident, strong and
bold but yet we must stay humble (Hamel, G., 2013).
DB Research Question 2: Why is it an important leadership trait to serve others first?
Servant-leadership produces servant-leadership in others. A good leader shows others and
encourages them to become good leaders. When good leadership traits are modeled than good
leadership skills and behaviors will be produced. When good leadership is modeled it should be
done in a way that the future leaders don’t become dependent on the leaders who they are
modeling themselves after. Some define good leadership as a unique property that consist of
people who decisions can change the course of history (Zaccaro, S., 2007). John 13: 14-15
states, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one
another’s feet for I have given you an example that you should do as I have done to you.”
(NKJV)
DB Research Question 3: What is the importance of relying on Jesus’ will and ways as it
relates to leadership?
Leaders should lead a life that is pleasing in the eye sight of God. In order to lead others the
correct way, a person’s life must be found perfect in the eyesight of God. Through God
everything is possible; without Him nothing is possible. The word of God states, “But Jesus
looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are
possible.” (Matthew 19:26) (NKJV) Leaders must rely on Jesus for what they are lacking when it
comes to spiritual matters.
