A Day in the Life
As a person placed in role of responsibility, time management has to be a quality that is
crucial in order to be successful. If you are effective in time management, you can effectively

minimize stress, while achieve personal and professional goals. In our reading of the case study
in (Larson, 2021) A Day in the life, we read into just how Troi a project manager for a large
information systems project handles her workload. While she made a great attempt to be the
first one in the office, she was apparently beat by one of the other project managers. This did
not deter her from her duties, nor the workload that was awaiting her. Time management has
become one of the important priorities of any manager, in any project. The ability to prioritize
tasks based on importance and urgency. In (Kennedy, 2022) the Eisenhower matrix, is discussed
in heavy detail. The concept behind this theory, is which categories and tasks are broken down
into four quadrants. Each one is based on a criteria that is useful for identifying the priorities.
Focusing on completing high priority and high urgency tasks first, then ensure critical objectives
are met efficiently. In the reading it is certainly easy to say that Troi is a very effective and
capable project manager. The long list of emails and messages that she had to attend to was
simply the work that was waiting for her when she arrived. As the day progressed and went on,
like in many projects that have a lot of moving parts, Troi was also bombarded with a lot of
problems that arose throughout the day. While each problem simply kept adding on adding to
her long list of things to do. At no moment did it ever appear to phase her. She was well aware
of what it was that she needed to do. She addressed problems on how urgent each issue was
and never coming off as stressed or overworked. She displayed the ability to of course multi-
task, but also was able to work well with others, and optimize her time. She was able to manage
responding to messages that where in her inbox, while being the problem solver for people that
worked under or worked with her. She minimized distractions by taking a moment to herself and
meditating. It was an example, that even though she was heavily tasked out and peopled seek
her input. She took the time to ensure she was always at her best. This case study is a good
example of what things you may have to deal with, when you oversee a project. Troi does a
good example at handling all the matters, in a timely, organized and non-panic manner. While
different projects, may require different tasks and some may be harder than others. This was a

look into what being a project manager will be. Manage and juggle your time wisely. In the
scripture
(ESV, 2001) Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I
will be exalted in the earth! Work will always be there for you, and in most cases the work will
not be slowing down. If is up to you to manage all these manners to the best of your abilities, do
not lose focus nor stress yourself out over matters that can be easily dealt with by staying calm.
