DISCUSSION THREAD: BENCHMARKING 2
Executives often fail to appreciate benchmarking's value and the potential benefits it may
bring to the business. Overall, benchmarking fails to deliver on its promise as a tool for quality
assurance. The term "benchmarking" is used when two businesses exchange operational data
with one another (Goetsch & Davis, 2021). This knowledge can give you a leg up in the
competition. The data is subsequently sent to the rival business. To better their own strategy,
many businesses research the strategies of their rivals in the same industry to see what they have
done well. De By et al. (2020) have given this strategy the name "benchmarking." This plan aims
to give you a leg up on the competition. Companies that take part in benchmarking may gain
from exchanging information (Sheoran & Kumar, 2022). These opportunities will be available to
them. Nobody anticipated that anyone would provide any potentially sensitive information.
Business owners may reap the rewards of benchmarking as it has the potential to boost
performance (Sheoran & Kumar, 2022). Above and beyond, he emphasized this detail. The
broad dissemination of knowledge may fundamentally help organizations hasten the adjustment
process.
Among benchmarking's several advantages is the ability to determine the best approaches
for mission-critical business processes. Greater efficiency in implementing organizational
change, better performance, and defined requirements for change are other advantages (Filippi et
al., 2023). Benchmarking has a lot of additional advantages as well. This is by no means an
exhaustive list of all the benefits of benchmarking. Although there are many positive sides to
benchmarking, there are also certain drawbacks that might be detrimental to a business. One risk
is that participants in the best-practices agreement may start depending too much on outside
parties. Such dependence may lead to a decline in critical thinking skills and an inability to
produce creative solutions to issues (Sheoran & Kumar, 2022). While it is great that many

individuals are contributing their best practices, it does not guarantee that the methods proposed
are the most suitable for the business. Also, as Sheoran and Kumar (2022) say, it is easy to get
preoccupied with the activities, outcomes, and strategies of competitors if one is often comparing
their business to others. This may be beneficial to your company's success down the road.
Unfortunately for the business, this might lead to the formation of a leadership team that lacks
broad thinking.
Since benchmarking reveals effective strategies used by other companies in the same
sector, it follows that the furniture manufacturer being evaluated would gain from using these
strategies. The company may save a ton of money on inefficient solutions if it uses this method
to identify and resolve certain production concerns. Despite the company now dealing with
several quality difficulties, they may achieve their objectives if they implement this strategy. If
managers do not widen their perspectives, they could waste time praising their coworkers'
achievements rather than learning how to create and implement strategies that will lead to future
success for the business. The upper brass is giving a small number of questions far too much
weight.
One of the most admirable qualities is the capacity to grow in character through
interaction with others, says Proverbs 27:17. There are other instances of this assertion
throughout the book. Right now, God wants us to realize that we are not the only sentient beings
in the universe. Helping others around us who are striving for personal growth is a wonderful
way to take advantage of this chance for personal development as a group. Insights and
recommendations given by long-term success stories are important components of
benchmarking. Whether this is seen as a leadership or follower relationship depends on the
situation. Through working together with the divine plan, we can grow as individuals and hone

our skills in the face of hardship. It is better to share than to keep information to oneself,
especially if the information is important enough to warrant being known. This becomes much
more evident when we can motivate someone with our expertise. Therefore, the likelihood of our
ancestors passing their knowledge on to us is higher.
