Integrated Learning Project - Final Submission
Company Description
The esteemed American enterprise Lockheed Martin Corporation has a solid foothold in
several industries, such as the military, aerospace, information security, and weaponry. This
company's activities span the whole globe. In March 1995, the corporation was legally founded
as a result of a merger between Martin Marietta and Lockheed Corporation. North Bethesda,
Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC, is where the international corporation's operations
center is now located. Of Lockheed Martin's 115,000 workers worldwide, 60,000 are engineers
and technicians at the moment (Ellis, 2022).
In the fields of intelligence, technology, aerospace, and military support, Lockheed
Martin is a renowned firm (Blankenship & Miles Joyce, 2020). Plus, in terms of revenue for
fiscal year 2021, it is the top supplier of military services globally. Military sales accounted for a
disproportionate share of Lockheed Martin's overall revenue (78%). When it comes to contracts
given to the US government, one particular firm holds the record. With the acquisition of $38.4
billion, Lockheed Martin was able to secure roughly 10% of the Pentagon's overall funding. In
all, this purchase was responsible for almost 85% of the business's income. A number of
contracts totaling $900 million make up the remaining 2%. The remaining fifteen percent
consists of contracts worth around $5.8 billion that have been entered into with foreign
governments. Half of Lockheed Martin's annual income comes from the group that provides
services to the Energy Department and NASA in the US.
According to Ellis (2022), Lockheed Martin's main areas of operation are as follows:
aeronautics; space; rotary and mission systems; missiles and fire control; and aeronautics. A
number of groups are now pitching in to help build the F-35 Lightning II. In addition to
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 3
managing the worldwide supply chain, they are in control of the consortium that will build and
install the technological solutions for the new US Air Force Space Fence. Lockheed Martin is
also the principal contractor for developing the Orion command module. Many civilian projects,
like increasing space exploration and creating renewable energy systems, have greatly benefited
from Lockheed Martin's knowledge and experience.
Master Production Schedule
Implementation
Time, effort, and quality are all broken down in the Master Production Schedule (MPS), a
crucial document in production planning. Being explicit about who is accountable for what and
what materials are needed for production is not part of the standard operating procedure. Sales
and manufacturing are two of the many departments that rely on the Master Production Schedule
as a formal agreement to bring about demand and supply harmony. For this purpose, it specifies
the quantity of goods to be manufactured and the time in which that production is to be
completed (Bagheri et al., 2022). The process of manufacturing is intricate. To keep up with
demand, it is important to strike a balance between manufacturing output and the resources
needed. It is essential that companies guarantee the security of their products before scheduling
production. Accordingly, companies should meticulously plan their output to fulfill demand
(Sáez et al., 2023). A well-planned master production strategy may also help businesses become
more efficient at satisfying customer demands and increasing revenues.
And there is a well-planned master manufacturing schedule for every product; it takes at
least a week to complete (Grumbach & Thomas, 2022). Typically, this schedule covers three to
two years. If Lockheed Martin wants to construct a master production that will last, there are four
main things they need. Supply and demand must be balanced, but there are many factors to think
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 4
about. A sales forecast estimates the number of orders placed within the specified time; the
current order portfolio shows the orders received so far for the period; the initial inventory
represents the number of units currently in stock; and the production quantity is the number of
units that must be manufactured throughout the period. A master schedule is a crucial tool for the
sales and production teams to connect with each other, according to Lockheed Martin (Lockheed
Martin Corporation, 2022). Its adaptability and willingness to undergo transformation are, hence,
crucial. The use of MPS software allows the organization to provide planners with more
autonomy while also accelerating the MPS development cycle.
Operation
The goods, quantities, and publication dates to be made are all detailed in a master
production schedule. This technology is crucial for manufacturing businesses to save on
inventory costs and meet consumer demand. Lockheed Martin's master scheduling technique
relies on a web of interconnected components.
To create a master production schedule, one must first predict the product's expected
demand. At each stage, Lockheed examines data that affects demand, such as past sales figures,
present market tendencies, and anything else that might be relevant. Lockheed Martin uses sales
and operations planning (S&OP), which takes the anticipated level of demand into account when
creating master production schedules. Anticipated amount of demand. Crucial staff from
different divisions work together throughout this process to meet consumer demand in an
efficient and cost-effective manner (Serrano-Ruiz et al., 2021). The production planning team
creates a detailed production plan by consulting the master schedule. Evaluating critical raw
material amounts, planning production cycles, and coordinating with suppliers and logistical
partners are all parts of this approach. Following the formulation of a plan, the production team
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 5
goes on to put it into action. The purpose of the master production schedule is to guide
production activities and guarantee that anticipated demand is satisfied. The production crew
keeps a close eye on the master production schedule and the current levels of output while the
manufacturing process is underway. In case things do not work out as planned, they adjust the
approach to save costs without sacrificing client demand.
Various departments within Lockheed Martin rely on master production, including
production planning, operations management, sales and marketing, and finance. The marketing
and sales departments, for example, get data on the company's manufacturing capacity and lead
times from the MPS (Bagheri et al., 2022). Contrarily, it is used by the financial team to track
actual spending against the budget and make any required modifications.
Enterprise Resource Planning
Software Selection Criteria
A rising number of companies are using automation and IT (Information Technology) in
their everyday operations to stay ahead in the modern business world. Many kinds of software-
driven computer systems are used by enterprises to improve their operational procedures.
According to Wijaya et al. (2023), ERP systems make it easier to handle several parts of a
company's operations, such as accounting, buying, and supply chain management. In the end,
Lockheed Martin analyzed many criteria and settled on one of three ERP systems.
The industry standard takes precedence. Businesses in different sectors use enterprise
resource planning (ERP) systems in diverse ways. The aerospace and military industries, which
include several sub-sectors, are heavily influenced by Lockheed Martin (Lockheed Martin
Corporation, 2022). There are several enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions that may zero
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 6
in on certain processes like accounting, logistics, or production. As a result, picking a system that
works for the sector and meets a need is critical.
The second need is about the things that need to be thought about thoroughly when the
ERP project is being put into action. Choosing the right ERP consulting partner is crucial for a
successful ERP rollout (Wijaya et al., 2023). Consequently, it plays a crucial role in choosing an
ERP system. According to this criterion, success requires undivided attention to time, people,
and strategy. Even while perfect conditions are hard to come by, they do occur. Examples of
such situations include thinking about updating systems, dealing with the fallout of a merger or
acquisition, and similar situations.
The final need is scalability. The first stage of ERP software implementation must be
well-managed to reduce risks. Considering the technology's influence on current and future
operations is essential for firms who want to keep improving their ERP system beyond the first
adoption.
Other considerations beyond cost included vendor responsibility, technology, references,
and risk. The following are some of the reasons why Lockheed Martin has decided to use SAP
Business One, Odoo, and Wrike as their accounting software.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Organizations can enhance their enterprise management capabilities through the
utilization of SAP Business One. The central focus of the course is financial management. The
selection of Odoo by Lockheed Martin was significantly impacted by the aviation industry. Its
main purpose is to manage the life cycle of assets. We selected Wrike due to its expertise in
distribution and production; it is suitable for both SMBs and large corporations. This system is
predicated on its Sales Management capabilities.

Analysis of the Software Costs
To automate its production, manufacturing, and other crucial activities, Lockheed Martin
must choose one of three enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, all of which come with
different price tags. Odoo is one platform that has several pricing points. People who are new to
the subject may access the introductory program "One App" for free. It is based on one specific
use case. The eleven apps that make up the $31 monthly Standard bundle are aimed at people.
The custom price plan is available for organizations to pre-subscribe for $47 per month or $38
per year. Lockheed Martin should go with the second option. Odoo gives you more bang for your
buck than other programs. A subscription is needed every month to access the program.
In line with Odoo's pricing models, Wrike offers five unique plan tiers: Free, Team,
Business, Enterprise, and Pinnacle. For businesses looking to set up centralized task
management, the app offers a free basic plan called "Free" to get things rolling. The Pinnacle
category, which provides exceptional service, is reserved for organizations with 1,000 or more
employees. The technique would be most useful for exceptional-result teams that rely on
specialist tools and analytics. Unfortunately, Pinnacle's official program page does not provide
any pricing details. Lockheed Martin must have one-on-one conversations with developers to get
price quotes customized to their specifications.
Also, you will not see SAP Business One's pricing information on the site. It is difficult
to use a pricing approach like the other two since the system is complicated and incorporates
many sector-specific applications and features. You may get one of our trial versions to try it out

before you buy it. So, like Wrike, Lockheed Martin must contact the system's creators to get
individualized quotes.
Materials Requirements Planning
Implementation of the MRP Module
Unanticipated challenges may arise during the implementation of an MRP system.
Achieving the organization's goals relies heavily on the efficient and cohesive cooperation of its
many divisions (Bogataj & Bogataj, 2019). The task of overseeing the implementation method
has been assigned to a project team by Lockheed Martin. Everyone from the project manager to
the buying manager, inventory manager, and information technology manager makes up the
team.
To make sure everything goes according to plan throughout implementation, the project
manager must keep an eye on progress and distribute responsibilities accordingly. Overseeing
the production process and making sure the MRP system is seamlessly integrated throughout the
full production schedule is the responsibility of the operations or production manager. Managing
the MRP system's installation, setup, and maintenance are the primary responsibilities of the IT
(Information Technology) manager. This duty has an impact on every aspect of the system. The
onus is on the buying manager to oversee the system's integration with the company's
procurement procedures to guarantee the timely availability of crucial items. The organization's
stock is under the supervision of the inventory manager, who is responsible for implementing
appropriate monitoring methods. Lockheed Martin begins an examination of its current processes
before moving forward with the MRP system deployment. The company chooses a system that
meets its goals while staying within its budget after analyzing the present inventory levels,
component lead times, and production plan. The next step is to set up the system by inputting all
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 10
the relevant data, such as the materials bill, inventory levels, lead times, and anything else that
could be relevant (Duhem et al., 2023). Prioritizing staff training is essential to guaranteeing
optimal system use after the technology is operational and established. Data input interpretation,
report writing, and result analysis are all part of this process.
Constant monitoring and process tweaking are required for the MRP system's efficacy.
Continuous monitoring, including verification of inventory levels, production schedules, and any
irregularities, is necessary to ensure the system functions at peak performance.
Operation of the MRP Module
Most executives at Lockheed Martin use the MRP module. The manufacturing process
can be tracked more easily, problems can be located, and well-informed choices may be made
about the organization's future. Production planners are in charge of making plans and keeping
track of the supplies required to complete everything by the deadline. According to Eltoukhy et
al. (2022), the Material Required Parts (MRP) technique can estimate the amount of material
required to manufacture a specific product. This calculation factors in production rates, stock
levels, and lead times. This lets them plan production so that they can reduce inventory levels
while still having what they need on hand when they need it. To achieve production goals,
buying managers must generate and oversee purchase orders for the essential materials using the
MRP system. With this feature, they can track their suppliers' delivery status in real-time and
anticipate any shortages or delays. Because of this, they can take preventive measures and tackle
these problems head-on.
The third important group using the MRP module are representatives from Lockheed
Martin's inventory management department. To save unnecessary maintenance expenses and
guarantee timely output, this system primarily serves to monitor inventory levels, regulate their
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 11
flow, and identify any problems. Thanks to the technology they use, businesses can identify
when their inventory is out of date and take the necessary steps to get rid of it. To achieve their
production targets, operations managers use this application to monitor the production process,
identify any problems, and change schedules as needed. Some examples of what they might do
include tracking the status of work orders, looking at the production pace, and figuring out what
obstacles may delay the process.
To confirm the present status and expected delivery dates of client orders, sales and
customer care agents use the MRP module. This method boosts client happiness and loyalty by
allowing them to deliver up-to-date and correct information. An organization's financial
managers use the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) module to find ways to save money,
calculate the costs of goods, labor, overhead, and more. They may be able to find ways to save
money for the company by precisely monitoring and evaluating expenditures on materials, labor
hours, and other production-related expenses.
Distribution Requirement Planning
Implementation of the DRP Module
An essential tool in supply chain optimization is Distribution Requirements Planning
(DRP). This method of stock control relies on a digital platform. This method is different from
the production-focused Material Requirements Planning (MRP) paradigm. Wang et al. (2021),
DRP helps businesses find the optimal inventory levels for each part of the supply chain. Our
primary goal is to satisfy our clients' requests while cutting costs. Data from the DRP system
helped figure out when and how much inventory was required at each of Lockheed Martin's
plants. Annotations relating to sales, customer orders, processing times, and inventory levels
make up this data collection.
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 12
Distributed Requirements Planning (DRP) system integration is a common task for
project managers at Lockheed Martin. To ensure the project stays on track with its budget,
timeline, and organizational objectives, the individual is responsible for arranging the activities
related to implementation. In addition, he guarantees that the DRP system can adapt to your
company's unique needs by coordinating with a wide range of experts, such as those in charge of
supply chain management, information technology, customer service, and inventory
management. Keeping higher-level stakeholders updated on project progress and addressing their
questions and concerns promptly requires constant communication on the part of the project
manager.
Before contemplating the implementation of a DRP system, Locksmith Martin conducts
thorough studies into the current supply chain process. Being aware of the current inventory,
expected delivery dates, lead times, and fluctuations in customer demand are important
considerations. Finding out the goals and constraints of the DRP system and choosing a DRP
application that fits the organization's unique needs is the next stage after getting a good grasp of
the present supply chain process. After extensive testing to guarantee the program's scalability,
accuracy, and dependability, Lockheed Martin will change it to match its demands. Everyone
who will be using the DRP system must have finished the training before it can be installed.
Included in this idea are standards for improving estimations, streamlining the supply chain, and
managing inventory levels.
Operation of the MRP Module
Depending on their supply chain architecture, companies may or may not fully deploy
Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) solutions. Take the most influential buyers as an
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 13
example. Divisions of Lockheed Martin include marketing and sales, logistics, supply chain
management, customer support, and inventories.
According to research by Ngatilah et al. (2020), supply chain managers are responsible
for overseeing and coordinating the whole supply chain. Countless aspects of the supply chain,
such as transportation timetables, inventory levels, and more, are optimized and planned with the
help of DRP systems. The inventory administrator is responsible for keeping track of the amount
of stock and ensuring that there is always enough of each item accessible for usage. To keep track
of inventory, set rules for inventory, and make any necessary changes, the DRP systems are put
into place. According to Nugroho et al. (2019), it is the duty of customer service professionals to
guarantee the timely fulfillment of client orders and the full satisfaction of customers. Order
fulfillment rates, delivery schedules, and customer order monitoring may all be improved with
DRP systems. Logistics administrators oversee a variety of tasks, including distribution and
transportation. Optimization of transportation scheduling, transportation expense management,
and carrier selection is made possible with the installation of DRP systems. Sales and marketing
managers are responsible for developing marketing strategies and making sales projections. They
make sure the system appropriately represents customer demand by providing input into the
demand forecasting method and using demand response planning (DRP) technology. Ensuring
the DRP system functions smoothly is the responsibility of the IT (Information Technology)
team. They not only set up the system and install it, but they also make sure it runs well.
The operational policy of a Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) system outlines
the core principles and characteristics that control the system's operation (Ngatilah et al., 2020).
Several critical criteria are considered by Lockheed Martin when it develops its DRP operating
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 14
plan. These include performance indicators, inventory turnover, lead times, safety stock, order
point, order quantity, and order point.
Capacity Requirements Planning
Implementation of the CRP Model
Munari et al. (2019) assert that Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) is utilized by
organizations to ascertain the essential resources required for production and to maintain optimal
inventory levels. To satisfy consumer demands, effective inventory management, precise demand
forecasting, and efficient allocation of production resources are essential.
Executing a CRP system requires the collaboration of numerous individuals within the
organization. It is imperative that the system's adoption be sanctioned by top management,
accompanied by backup funds and effective development oversight. For the CRP system to
function properly, an organization must have an IT (Information Technology) department. In
addition to maintenance and technical support, their duties also encompass user training and
software selection, configuration, testing, and validation.
Critical to the successful implementation of the CRP system within an organization are
cross-functional teams. Finance, information technology, sales, inventory management, and
manufacturing are among the departments represented on the teams. By utilizing cross-functional
teams, all stakeholders are guaranteed to have a voice in the development, execution, and
management of the CRP system.
Effective departmental collaboration, meticulous planning, and judicious resource
allocation are all critical components in ensuring the seamless implementation of a CRP system.
Determine the organization's needs and the extent to which they will be met by the CRP system
before proceeding. This requires identifying the critical stages of the production process,
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 15
evaluating the available resources, and analyzing customer demand. Select a CRP system that
meets the requirements of your organization once you have ascertained its needs. You should
then assess designs according to their pricing, features, and compatibility with the existing IT
infrastructure. Then, you should assemble a cross-departmental implementation team, including
members from finance, information technology, sales, and manufacturing. The implementation of
the CRP system should fall within this group's purview, which should be supervised by a project
manager. Verify that everything is properly configured and operating by conducting system
testing. Training must be provided to users on the appropriate use of the CRP system before its
implementation. Even when the CRP system is operating optimally, it is critical to collect user
feedback, analyze performance statistics, and adjust the system's configuration and operations to
continuously monitor and improve it.
Operation of the CRP Model
Stakeholders and departments within a manufacturing organization utilize CRP systems
to monitor production, determine capacity, and allocate resources (Lefta et al., 2020). CEOs
employ the CRP methodology when formulating strategic decisions. By using the system, they
can evaluate production data, track performance metrics, and formulate decisions that
significantly influence the organization's overall trajectory. After analyzing the organization's
capabilities and customer demand, production planners develop a production schedule. Resource
optimization, run scheduling, and achievement of production objectives are all achievable with
the CRP system. CRP is utilized by the sales and marketing departments to develop sales and
marketing strategies and forecast customer demand. The system may furnish more effective
marketing and sales initiatives with its insights regarding the needs, desires, and purchasing
patterns of customers. The supply chain managers oversee the movement of materials and
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 16
products through the utilization of the CRP system. By employing this system, one can
effectively accomplish the objectives of material acquisition planning, inventory management,
and transportation and logistics optimization. The expenditure and distribution processes are
monitored by budgeting groups using the system's operation to facilitate budget planning,
production cost analysis, and financial performance monitoring. Workers implement the CRP
system to monitor and control output objectives, inventory levels, and production schedules.
Through the system, they can report any issues that may arise with the machinery, manufacturing
process, or product quality. Maintenance specialists utilize the CRP system to analyze equipment
performance, schedule necessary maintenance operations, and avert equipment failures. By
enabling them to predict potential malfunctions, technology allows for a reduction in downtime
and manufacturing expenses.
As specified by Tanaga and Oetama (2023), the CRP operational strategy comprises a
multitude of vital components. Capacity planning to ascertain the necessary production capacity,
accurate demand forecasts, and the allocation of financial, human, and material resources to
specific production runs are critical elements. Production planning, inventory control, quality
assurance, and continuous improvement are all critical components of the CRP business strategy.
Succeeding in these particulars increases the likelihood that a company will optimize production,
satisfy clients, and increase revenue.
Assignment Plan
Structure of the ERP Implementation Plan
To guarantee the effective installation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, a
thorough installation plan details the necessary activities, roles, deadlines, and resources. The six-
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 17
step project management methodology put forth by Huang et al. (2019) may help to ensure a
more effective installation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Before a project starts, its target audience, goals, and scope are defined. Together, the
project manager and team will define the scope and objectives of the endeavor, develop a
timetable, and identify key personnel during this phase. Once an undertaking has been launched,
the planning phase may begin. It is critical that the project team create the project plan right now.
In the plan, you may find details about the project's scope, timeline, resources, and budget. Right
now, the project team is trying to figure out what risks may occur and how to lessen the blow of
those risks.
Design and analysis make up the third step. To identify problems and workable solutions,
the project team is now conducting a thorough review of the current processes and infrastructure.
Adjusting the ERP system's development to suit the organization's demands is the next step. Next
are the stages of analysis and design; the next steps are development and testing. To ensure the
enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is tailored to the company's requirements, it
undergoes revisions and adjustments during development. All the organization's requirements
must be met, and the system must be functional, according to our testing findings.
Installing ERP, transmitting data, and verifying system readiness are all part of
deployment, which is the full operation. As part of an ERP deployment strategy, tasks that need
to be completed once the system is live include monitoring its operation, helping with user
training, and making sure everyone has used it.
Everyone, from end-users to IT (Information Technology) staff, business process owners,
and the project manager, must have their roles and deadlines spelled out in the ERP deployment
strategy (Adhi Prasnowo et al., 2019). Assigning roles and setting due dates are crucial. Project
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 18
progress may be reviewed at predetermined intervals and adjusted as needed with the help of
strategically placed milestones and waypoints.
Education and Training Activities
Training and teaching are essential components of any thorough ERP adoption strategy.
Knowledge about the client is crucial to the efficient operation of enterprise resource planning
(ERP) systems. Before the deployment can start, everyone involved, from IT specialists to end
users, must be properly educated and trained (Eryadi & Hidayanto, 2020).
The first step in developing a training or education program is to determine what the
company requires. As a result, gaps in knowledge and comprehension of the ERP system's inner
workings may be more readily identified. A survey or focus group might help the project team
determine the end users' educational and training needs. The project team may design a
comprehensive ERP system training program after reviewing the requirements assessment.
Instructional videos, user guides, and in-person classes might all be part of the bundle. Members
of the project consider a range of training methods, such as traditional classroom instruction,
online materials, and practical experience.
Primarily, make sure the training sequence fits in with the big picture of the
implementation strategy. Before the ERP system can be put into action, those individuals who
will be using it must finish the necessary training. While the ERP system is still in its testing and
development phase, it is vital to instruct the IT personnel on how to modify and personalize it.
Also, when doing research and design, business process owners should get training on how to
incorporate technology into the organization's processes.
The training activities, as part of the larger strategy, need to be planned and executed
promptly. The project team will decide on the nature and duration of the training activities.
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 19
Training sessions should be scheduled at off-peak hours to ensure minimal disruption to routine
operations. The organization also needs to determine the most effective way to teach each talent.
There are a wide range of training options available, including hybrid models that combine online
and on-the-job instruction with traditional classroom instruction. The responsibility of ensuring
that the training materials are user-friendly and clear lies with the project team.
It is the project team's responsibility to evaluate the efficacy of the training and education
programs. Use of post-training systems, evaluation of taught information, and end-user feedback
are all potential components of the evaluation approach. The project team may use the
evaluation's findings to refine their ERP rollout training and education initiatives.
Key Activities in the Bills of Materials Sub-Assignment
Fundamental to the production process is assigning the BOM. It is a complete inventory
of all the components used to make a product, including raw materials, processed materials, and
final goods. A well-organized Bill of Materials (BOM) is critical for a problem-free
manufacturing process and a finished product that matches all requirements (Wang et al., 2022).
An exhaustive BOM sub-assignment must be conducted to provide a 98% accurate corporate
document.
Important data collection is required for the BOM sub-assignment, as it is the only way to
create an accurate BOM. Included in this data collection are component inventories, specs, and
designs. Project teams are tasked with documenting regulatory duties, manufacturing method
details, and tolerance standards. The project team may begin creating the bill of materials after
they have collected all the necessary information. If you want to know how to put together the
finished result, this paper has you covered. To complete the BOM, you must provide the
INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT: PART 8 - FINAL ASSIGNMENT 20
following information for each item: component number, description, quantity, and unit of
measurement.
Following its generation, the BOM must be checked for correctness. A comparison
between the product specifications and designs and the Bill of Materials (BOM) is used to
achieve this. Before going on to the next step, the project team checks the Bill of Materials
(BOM) to make sure it has all the necessary components and materials. After confirmation, a
multidisciplinary team of engineers, production workers, and quality control specialists must
examine the BOM. The comprehensiveness, accuracy, and compliance with all auditing and
client requirements of the BOM will be confirmed throughout the review.
There is always the chance that a product's Bill of Materials (BOM) may alter. The
project team must guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of the Bill of Materials (BOM). The
amount, the production technique, or even the proportions of individual components may all be
changed in this way. A business document that is 98% correct can only be produced with
efficient BOM administration. All stakeholders must be able to view the Bill of Materials
(BOM), and the project team must design a mechanism to handle changes to the BOM. Version
control or a bill of materials (BOM) management system might be part of it.
