ABSTRACT
As the world becomes increasingly global, it is essential to understand the diversity that
an international business is likely to face in the sophisticated world of business. According to
Satterlee (2023), cultural differences pose a huge challenge to the business dealings of most
global companies. On the other hand, these cultural differences also represent opportunity for
companies that are well aware and prepared to comprehend and utilize the power of cross-
cultural interactions. Through the utilization the Hofstede cultural model, this research paper
discusses the cultural differences between Sweden and the United States and how they impact
businesses that wants to transact and operate across these two cultures. Analyzing the cultural
differences between the two nations gives directions on what managers and businesses can do to
take advantage of cross-cultural transactions for efficient business engagements.
According to Satterlee (2023), Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory is a framework for
understanding cultural differences across countries. The five dimensions are power distance,
individualism vs. collectivism, masculinity vs. femininity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term
orientation vs. short-term normative orientation. These cultural dimensions provide valuable
insights into the societal norms and values that shape the behavior and expectations of
individuals in these societies. Understanding these dimensions can be crucial for businesses and
