1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31-33
“23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are
lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man
another's wealth. 31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the
glory of God.
32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of
many, that they may be saved.” [1Co16]
As a Christian, Ramona should consider what this scripture tells us. In layman’s terms it
is stating that we have free will to do what ever we please, but as Christians we should always
consider whether or not what we do, say, or think brings glory to Christ Jesus. Ramona should
really consider the behavior and messages set forth by Next Step. The glaring problem I see here
are the blatant lies the company tells.
First lie, the website states that the ingredients for the food are found all over the world.
Reality: most of the ingredients are manufactured in a lab in the city. From a legal standpoint,
Ramona should walk away. There are state and federal laws preventing companies from false
advertising. Based on the scenario, Seattle, WA has a state law, RCW9.04.010: False Advertising.
This law states that “which advertisement contains any assertion, representation or statement of
fact which is untrue, deceptive or misleading, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor” [RCW16] As a
Christian, Ramona should consider Exodus 20:16 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbor”, in other words you should not tell lies. Now, Ramona is not the one directly telling
the lies but she represents the company and is therefore guilty by association. This should cause
her to walk away from the offer based on legal premises.
As Christians we have a spiritual obligation to live in an ethical manner. : Colossians 3:1-6
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is
