For this week’s discussion I decided to dig deeper into the International Organization of
Standardization (ISO), what I found was that the ISO developed and developed standards that
have been adopted. To date “ISO has developed over 24,437 International Standards and all are
included in the ISO Standards.” (ICS, 2022) These standards have provided various solutions to
global challenges and have paved the way to support innovation for organizations globally.
Makato Seka states “ISO standards can be divided into three broad categories: product, process
and management systems. Product standards evaluate the quality and safety of goods and
services. Process standards refer to the conditions under which products and services should be
produced.“(Seta, M, 2019, Par 8) These standards ensure the quality and safety in both products
and services in international trade. Understanding the expectations, cultures, and way of doing in
other business can be vital or any organizational relationships.
Patricia Siltori brings up a valid point when she stated “The current environment is
increasingly demanding companies to improve their business processes to enhance their
performance and become competitive as well as to maintain this competitiveness. Globalization
has emphasized the need of companies to increase their quality, flexibility and products portfolio
and reduce their costs and delivery time to survive in the market.” (Patricia F.S, 2021, Par. 2) An
organization that abides by the ISO standards and regulations set themselves up for a beneficial
reputation and good practices in international business. Quality policies and procedures can set
an organization up for great success. The ISO also provides a certification opportunity for
businesses. This certification is said to guarantee that ISO certified businesses hold a greater
international recognition and offers endless opportunities beyond national borders which
ultimately can increase their sales and revenue.

The bible says in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives
generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (ESV) As a Christian business
professional, seeking wisdom from guidelines and those that have gone before us will render
bountiful rewards for our organization.
