Q1. Provide a description of the product/service and a brief history of the firm.
In 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne founded Apple, Inc. The
company's initial focus was on personal computers called Apple I and Apple II. In 1984 the
Macintosh computer was a remarkable success for the company, but the company's true
dominance began with the iPod (2001), iPhone (2007) and iPad (2010). Today, Apple is a global
technology leader in hardware, software, and services. In 2007, Apple revolutionized the
smartphone industry when they introduced the iPhone. The phone had a sleek design,
touchscreen interface and an app ecosystem. The iPhone combined communication,
entertainment and productivity features which help to set the standard for modern smartphones
being used today.
Q2. Explain the organization’s current or possible global marketing efforts.
The global marketing strategy of Apple focuses on innovation and premium branding
with a seamless ecosystem. Their premium branding has brand consistency. Apple has a brand
image that is the same across all global markets. This helps to emphasize the simplicity,
exclusivity, and quality in all markets. “Consider the various generations and iterations of the
Apple iPhone. Before introducing a new model, Apple conducts tests with actual users to be
sure the product fits their needs and performs as promised.” (Marshall & Johnston, 2023) While
maintaining their core branding, Apple adapts advertising to local cultures, trends, and
languages. The flagship stores are in key global cities which enhance the customer experience
and brand loyalty. Apple has a premium pricing strategy but recently they have adjusted their
pricing based on regional factors such as income levels and taxes. Social media, influencer
partnerships and online advertising play a significant role in Apple’s marketing efforts
worldwide.

Q3. Explain the organization’s mission. Provide its mission statement or create one if
necessary.
Apple’s official mission statement is:
“To bring the best user experience to customers through innovative hardware, software, and
services.”
Apple prioritizes intuitive interactions across its products and services, ensuring that the
customer gets a premium experience. Apple is also known for pioneering new technology from
the iPhone to the MacBook to advancements in AI and wearable tech. The core goal is to create
technology that is innovative, easy to use, and enhances everyday life for consumers. Apple
fulfils its mission by design excellence, technology leadership, customer centric approach and
sustainability and responsibility.
Q4. Explain the organization’s competitive strategy. Chapter 3 provides the names of
specific strategies. Select one of these specific strategies.
Apple uses a differentiation strategy with their products and services. Apple focuses on
product innovation that is unique, with high quality products with a seamless ecosystem. Apple
consistently introduces new features and innovative technology-like Face ID and M-series chips.
Apple’s brand loyalty is fostered by a strong customer base through exclusivity and premium
branding. The seamless integration across Apple devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad, iWatch) also
enhances the customer experience. The retail and service excellence are also top tier. Apple
stores and services (AppleCare, AppleOne) help to strengthen brand reliability. Because Apple’s
core strategy is differentiation, and it also leverages niche marketing by targeting premium
customers and cost advantages through efficient supply chain management. Biswas et al.

provides valuable insights for businesses to understand product evolution patterns
and make informed decisions in product development and innovation strategies. (Biswas et al.,
2022)
Q5. Conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis for the
organization. Structure this with a heading for each of the four components.
“SWOT analysis means the analysis of a company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats.” (Lu, 2024)
