INTEGRATION OF FAITH PAPER ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
Nehemiah held a high position during the reign of King Artaxerxes I, the Persian ruler who, at
that time, held dominion over the exiled Jews. Nehemiah was a trusted servant and close advisor
to the king. However, to his great dismay, Nehemiah discovered that the rebuilding of Jerusalem
had languished and that the walls of the treasured city were still in shambles. With great prayer
and diplomacy, Nehemiah secured the favor of King Artaxerxes I. He successfully assembled the
resources to go finish building the walls amidst severe local opposition. He completed the job in
an amazing 52 days.

Question 1
The book of Nehemiah, chapter two, verse seventeen, teaches Christians about the
significance of work. Nehemiah teaches individuals the need to work as a group to achieve
organizational goals. The gates of Jerusalem were in ruins and burned, and Nehemiah called the
people to come and rebuild the Jerusalem wall. The Israelites regrouped in large numbers, but
Sanballat and Tobiah jeered and despised them. After being despised and jeered, Eliashib,
Hassenaah, Uriah, Paseah, and Meshullam, among other men of God, rebuilt the Jerusalem gate
and wall. Thus, individuals should work as a team to achieve organizational goals. In project
management, goal setting is a key aspect that project managers should consider. Nehemiah's goal
was to build the Jerusalem wall despite being jeered by Tobiah and Sanballat.
Question 2
Communication plays a significant role in project management. Managers with proper
communication skills ensure the project is accomplished within the set timeframe. The wall
separated the people and officials building the wall, and people had to communicate to begin
rebuilding the wall. The sound of the trumpet was the one that was supposed to join them
(Nehemiah 4, 18-20). Therefore, communication in project management allows individuals to
progress excellently since they know what is expected and accomplish the project within the set
deadline.
Question 3
Nehemiah 4: 10-15 creates awareness of the need to motivate individuals. People lose
strength and faith, but individuals need to be motivated to accomplish specific goals. The people
building the Jerusalem wall were afraid of their enemies, but Nehemiah motivated them not to
3
fear that God would fight for their families, sons, daughters, and wives. Thus, in project
management, motivation is a crucial aspect that the project manager should consider for
accomplishing the project. Project managers should motivate employees with intrinsic and
extrinsic rewards.
Question 4
The key goal of project management is to assemble/collect resources and processes to
ensure the intended objective is accomplished. Project managers can only achieve the anticipated
outcome with resources (Mizuno, 2020). Therefore, project managers must use the available
resources to achieve anticipated outcomes.
Question 5
Nehemiah 2:12-16 teaches individuals the need to evaluate a project and give feedback.
Project evaluation helps the project manager study the project and identify the intervention used
to accomplish the project/intended outcome. Therefore, evaluation helps one to assess the work
that should be done and give feedback to officials to set the resources according to the
assessment.
Question 6
Nehemiah 2:17-18 teaches individuals the need to be excellent leaders. Jerusalem wall
was in shambles, and Nehemiah had to take leadership and urge the people to come in large
numbers to rebuild the wall. Building the wall meant they would never be in disgrace. Therefore,
project managers are leaders and should direct what should be done.
Question 7
4
Project managers should ensure the work is standard to meet the intended need and
expectations. Low-quality work or substandard work will not achieve the intended outcome. It
leaves individuals questioning how the project proceeded up to the last milestone.
Question 8
In project management, project managers must keep records. Good record-keeping help
to monitor the progress of the project (Amoah & Marimon, 2021). More so, it is possible to
monitor the work done by a specific person to determine whether it meets the required standard.
In Nehemiah 3:1-32 each person who contributed to rebuilding the wall has been recorded, and
his work has been appreciated.
Question 9
A job description should be clear and concise. Each person should know the role they
should play in project management (Müller, Glückler & Aubry, 2013). Giving unclear and
unconcise job descriptions leads to redundancy. When a job is repeated, it is costly to the project
owner. On the other hand, project managers should assign jobs based on individual skills and
experience.
