DIVERSITY TRAINING 2
Diversity Training
Our strength is in our diversity and the more diverse we are the stronger we are. Each person
brings a unique set of skills, a different perspective, and an unique point of view. Added together
we get a much more inclusive and broader definition of who we are as an organization. Keeping
that in mind we have decided to include domestic partners as a part of our benefits program
when it comes to health care coverage.
DIVERSITY TRAINING 3
Diversity Training
Diversity can recall many thoughts. What is it to be diverse? What would you describe as
diverse? How about a variety? Well, if you walked into a candy store and all they had was one
type of candy then you would probably be board as everything is the same. The same color, taste,
flavor, and size. There is really nothing to choose from. You want a variety of candies to choose
from. Just like there are a variety of radio stations to listen to in your car, a variety of television
stations to watch, and just as many different televisions programs to watch as there are stations.
Training Goals
Establishing a goal or focal point for training would be to center training around the
benefits of diversity and variety. Then, encouraging embracing that diversity and variety when it
comes to not only employees but those in our employee’s lives. Our employee families help
make up that employee and make that employee the person they are. So, it is only natural we
want to embrace the family of that employee and allow their legal domestic partner join in the
benefits of having their spouse work for us.

Define Inclusion
“Inclusion involves how well organizations and their members fully connect with,

Define Our Goal
“Our goal is to focus on improving acceptance and understanding of people with different
backgrounds, experiences, capabilities, and lifestyles. Employees are encouraged to recognize,
evaluate, and appreciate differences”. (Valentine, Meglich, Mathias, & Jackson, January 1,
2019)
Change
In implementing this new direction leadership has taken we need to re-assure our
employees, associates, team members, and front-line staff that change is good. Change can be a
positive thing because there will be a group of employees that want to resist change.
Biblical World View
Christ loved people no matter their background or lifestyle. The Woman at The Well and
we have all heard the story many times. The story picks up in John chapter 4. In lie of a complete
sermon the Samaritan woman was like Americans and Soviets were during the cold war. So, this
woman who had a rugged life and as many marriages as Elizabeth Taylor told Jesus she was
living out of wedlock with her sixth man. Yet, Jesus spoke to her and valued her and asked her
