Differentiate between the various management levels in an
organization.
will vary
Top-level managers are in charge of monitoring and directing the
whole company.
Middle-level managers are in charge of carrying out organizational
plans that adhere to the company's policies. They serve as a link
between top-down and bottom-up management.
Low-level managers are responsible for completing tasks and
delivering results while also acting as role models for the workers
they supervise. Every firm has a diverse set of managerial
responsibilities. When they are correctly coordinated and a strong
hierarchical manager structure is in place,
an organization may be very efficient in producing value via the
creation of its products, services, and other goods and services the
whole process.
Briefly describe each of the four key management functions
Planning- deciding on the objectives and activities of an individual
or a group as a whole.
Organizing- organizing the necessary financial, physical,
informational, and other resources to achieve objectives
Leading-encourage workers to achieve high levels of
performance Controlling- keep an eye on things and make
the necessary changes
Discuss the impact of immigration on the labor force of the United
States.
To begin with, immigration expands the workforce, therefore
expanding the economy. Although immigrants make up just 16
percent of the workforce in the United States, they account for a
significantly bigger percentage of the country's growth. Immigration,
both legal and illegal, accounted for little over half of the increase in
the US workforce between 1996 and 2010.
Immigration's total economic impact is very probably negligible. It
has a negligible short- and long-term demographic impact on the
proportion of the population that is working age. It's probably more
sensible for policymakers to
concentrate on the beneficiaries and losers of immigration. Natives
working in low-wage, low-skilled occupations are the biggest losers.
Of course, technical advancements and increasing trade have
lowered the number of low-wage jobs available in the United
States. Immigration, on the other hand, is a discretionary policy
that may be changed. Immigrants, as well as capital owners and
skilled employees, are the main beneficiaries, but their benefits are
small in comparison to their income.
In closing, I'd want to point out that immigration debates are as
much political and moral as they are economic. According to the
most recent studies, we can decrease immigration while remaining
confident that it would not hurt the economy. If we are worried
about low-wage and low-skilled employees in the United States, this
makes sense. On the other hand, if assisting unskilled employees in
other nations is a top priority, then permitting a significant number
of such people to enter should continue. Of all, even with the most
liberal immigration policy in the world, only a tiny fraction of the
world's impoverished could ever migrate to this nation.
Those who support the existing high level of unskilled legal and
illegal immigration should do so with the knowledge that the
American workers who would be affected by the policies they support
are already among the poorest and most vulnerable.
Compare and contrast strategic, tactical, and operational planning.
Strategic planning is the process through which an organization
defines its strategy, or direction, and decides how to allocate
resources to accomplish that goal. In general, strategic planning
focuses on the entire company rather than a single unit, and at
least one of the three major topics is addressed.
What do we do?
For whom do we
do? How do we
excel?
Tactical planning differs from operational planning in that tactical
plans ask precise questions about what has to happen in order to
achieve a strategic goal, whereas operational plans inquire about
how the organization would typically carry out its purpose.
The practice of integrating strategic and tactical goals and
objectives is known as operational planning. It defines how, or what
portion of, a strategic plan will be put into action within a specific
operational term, as well as milestones and success criteria.
Four questions are addressed in an operating
strategy. Where are we now?
Where do we want to
be? How do we get
there?
How do we measure our progress?
Despite these distinctions, however, strategic, tactical, and
operational planning are all intertwined. Managers require both
tactical and strategic planning programs, which must be tightly
linked for effectiveness. As a result, it is clear that Enterprise Risk
Management should focus on these relationships, and that using
numerous Probability Impact Graph matrices with different arbitrary
scales is not a reasonable or transparent approach.
Explain at least three technology acquisition alternatives.
1.
Developing the applications in-house:One significant
IT acquisition approach is to have a research and
development
department within the company. New apps
may be built in this manner to meet the precise needs of the
organization. Despite the fact that it is time consuming and
costly, this is the greatest choice for generating
additional
royalties from software sales.
2. Outsourcing:Another good option is to outsource the
activities, which is having someone else execute the work for
you. Outsourcing can be accomplished through a partnership,
a vendor, or a service provider.
3. Buying the application:Finally, the most cost-effective and
time- saving option would be to purchase the required IT
application. Depending on the needs of the organization,
many packages can be purchased and used. One factor to
examine is the efficacy of the apps that will assist the
company both now and in the future.
Discuss the important functions of horizontal communication.
Horizontal communication refers to the flow of information between
persons and groups at the same organizational level.
Horizontal communication does not entail information being sent up
or down levels. Horizontal communication is typically more
immediate, direct, and efficient than up or down communication
when it comes to sharing information, solving issues, and
collaborating. Horizontal communication, since it occurs directly
between individuals working in the same setting, might result in a
greater quality of information sharing. Horizontal communication is
exemplified by team communication, in which members coordinate
tasks, collaborate, and settle issues. Horizontal communication
takes place both
officially in meetings, presentations, and formal electronic
communication, as well as informally in other, more casual workplace
contacts.
It also has several important functions, whcih allows units to sahre
information, coordinates work and solve mutual problems. It helps
resolve conflicts. By allowing interactions among peers, it provides
social and emotional support as well.
Differentiate between traditional factories and flexible factories.
Organize work flow around poducts. Flexible factories provide more
production options and a greater variety of products. They differ
from traditional factiries in three primary way lot size, flow patterns,
and scheduling. Also, the Flexible factories characterestics is having
relatively shorter production cycles.
Discuss the three needs most relevant to managers according to
McClelland.
We all have three motivators, according to McClelland: a desire for
accomplishment, a need for connection, and a need for power.
Depending on their primary motivation, we all have distinct traits. These
motivators, according to McClelland, may be taught, which is why this
theory is also known as the Learned Needs Theory. We all have three
motivational drivers, regardless of our gender, culture, or age, and one
of these will be our main motivating driver. This primary motivation is
heavily influenced by our upbringing and life experiences. Overall
