Based on your study of the Scriptures, what would you say are the most compelling passages in regard
to developing and implementing team ministry? In your thread, provide 1 passage and your reasoning
for choosing the passage. ("I believe this is foundational to the whole idea to team ministry
because...")
The scripture that I would love to quote is “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are
keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and
not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.” (Heb 13:17 ESV)
I believe this is foundational to the whole idea to team ministry because it encourages us to have
a positive attitude towards our leaders by giving them respect and honor. It is important to always get
along well with our team or coworkers. I also believe that this scripture is foundational to the whole idea
of ministry because we can demonstrate submission towards those we work with and also have a good
sense of teamwork with them. This scripture also leads to individuals not having to carry out their own
personal agenda but looking to the needs of others.
It is very important to respect and honor your teammates. We should always treat both our
teammates and leaders with fairness and just, just the way we would love them to treat us. “So,
whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matt 7:12 ESV). Since Ministry is an expression of God’s love and each part of the body should help with
the responsibility of all departments or what is in relation to that team, we should make it our priority to
submit with joy and be a peacemaker.
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (Rom 12:18). Finally, to put all
this together in why Hebrews 13:17 is foundational for the development and implementation of team
ministry is even though this scripture focuses working in harmony with your leader, all of us are leaders
