The People Side of the Equation
As leaders, we have a role in how the data analytics are used in companies. The leaders to make
these changes that are similarly motivated form stronger teams to make change. "The individuals
of such a team will become even more specialized and more efficient by trading ideas,
techniques, and tasks. We can quickly see this by how fast a compatible crew will start running
similar projects through an assembly line" (Bartlett, 2013). Each person in these teams has
different skills and motives that are unique only to them. They are formed because of their work
experience, education, life experiences, past failures, and past successes. Every time a person has
an interaction or gains knowledge, it will influence how they feel about things, people or entities.
This can then influence the future's perceptions and dealings. Ultimately this can have an effect
on the company they are working in. When we are in the process of analyzing the data, there can
be things that could impact the decision making in a negative way. Areas that it can happen are
from the information and the misinformation that your get, looking at the analysis too much that
the obvious answer is missed. You could also not take a deep enough in your analysis and have a
management strategic plan (Ahmed & Khan Pathan, 2019). Not looking at things from every
perspective can be an issue.
Leadership and management skills are important in executing analytics through the
accomplishment of navigating short- and long-term goals (Bartlett, 2013). In a company,
leadership and administration skills are essential in the data analytics process. It helps navigate
the decision making method and to lead and create better decision makers. The skills of
leadership and management are used in unison and are to operations to aim for complexity and
evolution, which are necessary for leadership effectiveness (Sebastian et al., 2018). A leader
needs to be able to lead and have good oversight of the data analytics to be able to motivate and
lead the employees they oversee to get good results for the company. There is also a need to
encourage teamwork with the individuals they lead to improve the company. All of this is done
with good communication skills from both leadership and the other employees.
When we think about communication and the skills that come with it, the part people
think of most is the verbal part. There are two parts to communication they are speaking and
listening. I think the more important part of communication is the listening part. When you listen
more, you will get a better understanding of what those you are leading are thinking. This sets
you up to better to respond to questions and concerns. "Let your conversation be gracious and
attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone" (Colossians 4:6, New Living
Translation). We see here that God wants us to be prepared to have the right responses for all
areas of our lives. We want to follow this to be able to build good relationships with those we
lead.
