Important Concepts
Introduction
The three most important concepts that the group chose this week were leadership
characteristics, organizational growth, and condition setting. Within leadership characteristics,

one will find integrity, courage, and humility. All these together, can create a leader or manager
that leads by example, is not afraid of standing up for what is right, and someone who isn’t afraid
to admit when they are wrong. If leaders and managers follow these, then they can see their
organization grow. To ensure that their organization and employees meet their full potential,
leaders and managers must set conditions. In the following sections, each concept will be
discussed.
Group Consensus
Integrity is defined as “a firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic
values, incorruptibility.”[ CITATION Dee13 \l 1033 ]Leaders set the standard for others to
follow. If a leader is not true to their word and cuts corners or ignores ethical and moral
standards, then others are sure to follow. “Leaders typically set the standards for behavior in the
workplace and then create situations and cultures that influence employee and organizational
outcomes.”[ CITATION Pen18 \l 1033 ]
The thing to remember is that doing the right thing is not always easy. This is why
having courage is essential for a leader. A leader must understand that they cannot please
everyone with every decision, however, making the moral and ethical decision despite judgement
and criticism is always the right decision. “While physical courage is lauded by all, lesser
known is the moral variant of courage, Moral courage is when you act on the conviction that
something is morally right even though you believe that something of personal value may be
