Health Service Administration
Leading subordinates in a healthcare sector can be difficult at times, but an excellent
leader struggles so much to ensure they manage their careers adequately. Leaders should devise
sufficient techniques for ensuring their leading skills fit the organization plan( Kaplan, 2007).
The devices are essential in ensuring the leaders get on track. A healthcare administration leader
must first develop the right questions that will give insights about the required leadership plan
that can fit into an organization. Thus, I agree with Kaplan because self-questioning is vital in
conducting a periodic basis survey that can help a manager identify challenges and issues that
can influence the leadership process. Subsequently, a leader should ask themselves what is
required to ensure their leading skills fit the organization needs (Kaplan, 2007). The question is
vital in identifying the personality and beliefs that can be beneficial in the leadership process.
Nevertheless, because of the hazardous process involved in the healthcare sector's
leadership, self-management can assist in avoiding such perils. Linsky and Heifetz (2002) argue
that a leader can lead and still stay alive. Hence, a leader should have protective devices to use in
insulating qualities that can influence management roles. Some of the qualities that should be
avoided include; cynicism that can undermine the creativity of a manager; An arrogance that
blows out the management curiosity and knowledge; Callousness that destroys compassion for
the subordinates. Concurrently, as Hill (2007), says a leader should ensure things in an
organization run smoothly. A leader should focus on forging an excellent relationship with
subordinates and they must be in a position to control all the services in the organization
adequately. I agree with these authors because leadership is a process, and a leader must be in a
position to lead adequately.

In my leadership roles, the principles that I will adapt include being ready to bear the
leadership pain. The pain will assist me to have positive change that is necessary in controlling
services in my organization. Also, in my roles I will be asking myself relevant questions to assist
me in identifying the skills that fit my roles, and create an excellent relationship with my
subordinates.
