Dees (2013) in the first two chapters of his book, Resilient Leaders
, articulates many
important leadership qualities. Dees, with extensive experience in leadership, examines what it
means to be a leader, but not in the easy and glorious moments of leadership. He uncovers the
deep character flaws that many people have and proves what leaders possess that makes them
what they are. Within the two chapters, there are three concepts that stood out, each one proving
the difference between being a leader and simply being in charge.
