Step 1: Draw out the chromosome for each phase in the cells provided to reflect the stages of Mitosis.
Step 2: Draw out the chromosome for each phase in the cells provided to reflect the stages of Meiosis I
and Meiosis II. Carefully follow the arrows.

Conclusion Questions: Circle the correct answer the for multiple choice questions and write neatly for
the short answer questions (4 pts/each)
1. What is the product of Mitosis?
a. Four genetically variant cells
b. Two genetically variant cells
c. Two identical daughter cells, no genetic variation
2. What is the product of Meiosis I?
a. Four genetically variant cells
b. Two genetically variant cells
c. Two identical daughter cells, no genetic variation
3. What is the product of Meiosis II?
a. Four genetically variant cells
b. Two genetically variant cells
c. Two identical daughter cells, no genetic variation
4. Why does Meiosis need to occur twice?
-Cells undergoing mieosis require 2 sets of divisions because only half of the cromosomes from each
parent are needed. This is so half of the offspring's genes come from each parent.
5. List which cell division process deals with reproductive cells (gametes) and somatic (body) cells.
-The purpose of meiosis is to produce gametes, or sex cells. During meiosis, four daughter cells
are produced, each of which are haploid
6. During Prophase I, what is the process called where the chromosomes pair together?
a. Crossover
b. Synapsis
c. Fusion
7. During Prophase I, what is the process called where genetic information is combining?
a. Crossover
b. Synapsis
c. Fusion
8. During Cytokinesis, what is the indentation called that forms when it begins pinching off the cell
into two different cells is called what? (there are two different names: one for animal cells and
one for plant cells)
a. Animal Cells:
b. Plant Cells:
9. Before chromosomes are pulled to opposite ends of the cell to split, where do the chromosomes
line up?
a. Metaphase plate
b. Cleavage furrow
c. Nuclear envelope
10. Mitosis makes cells and Meiosis makes with .
a. Gametes; Somatic
b. Squamous; Stratified
c. Somatic; Gametes
Application: (10 pts)
God has woven our bodies together in a way that allows us, if properly developed, to repair itself.
Mitosis and Meiosis is evidence of a divine Creator due to the nature of the process. Through viewing
the many steps and specific events that must take place in order for splitting to occur, such a fine tuned,
delicate and crucial process such as cell division could not have been set in to place by chance. Rather, it
must have been orchestrated by someone (God) to put it together. Life cannot assemble itself without a
Creator to put it together.
From what you have gathered from the lab, please explain in your own words how you think cell division
demands the existence of God?
-What I gathered from the lesson is that our bodies are so complicated and unique, to just be a
coincidence, and that ourselves are evidence that God exists.
