“DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!”
Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
The Bible tells us plainly not to get weary in well doing for in due season meaning the proper time, that we will
reap if we do not faint. Don’t give up. “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!” If we would just hold fast during trying
times, if we would weather the storms of life we shall reap. You just got to believe that after the storm comes
sunshine. “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!” is my topic today.
David said in Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: (WHY)
because thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. In this life, we must know and understand that
every mountain top of victory will have a valley of the shadow of death, between victories are struggles and that in-
between breakthrough are battles.
When you are faced with a BATTLE sometimes it can INDICATE A BREAKTHROUGH is near! Moses was used
to delivering the people of Israel, and he faced Pharaoh. David was used as a king, and he faced Goliath. Nehemiah
was used to rebuilding the walls, and he faced opposition. Joseph was used by God, and he faced haters. So, you
might as well face your battle and “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!” Some of us are going through battles
because we are still entangled with sin, entangled in doing the wrong thing GOING AGAINST God’s word. We fall
so easily into the traps and snares of the devil, and it is because some of us really do not understand just how
serious and dangerous it is right about now. We are playing with this thing call religion and we are forsaking our
relationship with God.
In Genesis Chapter 26 the land that was Isaac's inheritance was barren. He entered a land that had famine, but at the
same time this land was promised to him as an inheritance. Can you just imagine the land that has been promised to
you, but when you get there, it is barren? So, what happened is God told Isaac don't go anywhere, I want you to
stay right here, because I am going to bless you in this land. God cannot bless some of us because we do not have
patience, we go ahead of God, we do things on our own, or just don’t do nothing. But in the times that we are living
in you got to “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!” God tries to help us get loose, get free through the battles,
through the trials, through the illness, through the opposition that we can get to our due season, to our breakthrough
but we are too hardheaded, too selfish, and too prideful. We want it all, the cake and the pie too.
In verse 6 of Genesis 26 we see that Isaac stayed in the land that was named Gerar and he started to plant and sow,
and as he planted and sowed, he became very prosperous and fruitful and the philistines didn't like that too much,
so they began to come against him. The philistines didn't like Isaac, so they began to bury the wells that was dug by
Isaacs Father Abraham. Isaac had to face the philistines just like we got to face the issues of life. In verse 18 of
Genesis 26 says Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for
the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his
father had called them. The first one he dug was called Esek, which means contention. The second he dug was
called Sitnah, which means opposition or enmity. The third well he dug was named Rehoboth meaning room.
You see what I get from this is that as Isaac continued to dig despite contention and opposition, God eventually
blessed him with some room to be fruitful in the land. If you and I will begin to go through our trials with a smile,
without murmuring and complaining we may be able to see that we are walking with victory and although we are in
a battle the breakthrough is near, but you got to “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!”
As Isaac persevered through the opposition and struggles of the philistines, he did not faint, he did not give up.
I know some of us maybe in a battle right now, but that battle is just a set up for greater. If we understand that when
we say we are his, we do not belong to ourselves. We must get rid of everything that prevent us from entering his
presence. If you continue to read on in Genesis, we see that God used these conflicts and contentions to lead Isaac
back to Beersheba, the place that God wanted him to be. Your battles are trying to lead you back to where God want
you to be. It may be a spiritual place, it maybe a physical place but wherever the place is that is where I want to be.
Let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Just keep fighting “DO ALL YOU
CAN TO STAND!” - this is the battle before the breakthrough! Time is now that you and I lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Just push on not
looking back and we will gain the rest that God has promised us. We’re being made ready to enter his rest! Yes, we
have some battles. Paul said through much tribulation we enter the kingdom. He also said that we are troubled on
every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not
destroyed. “DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAND!”
