What method of evangelism did you use and how did you start the conversation?
Of all the methods I chose the Friendship Evangelism Method not only because its one of
the more passive method but also because I was evangelizing my youngest son who is
nineteen. My wife and I raised all are sons in a traditional Catholic family going to
church every week and having the whole family involved in as many church activities as
possible. Our son JP as we call him was always a loving son that is until high school
when he was the only one still at home. All his brothers were on there own in a university
or married. He started to get together with all the wrong elements in school from drinking
to starting to use drugs. We would try to talk to him and explain to him what he was
doing wrong but no like a typical nineteen year old he new everything. Every day I would
pray that, he would learn from my own experiences and that the Holy Spirit would guide
me in what I had to do to bring him back to our Lord Jesus Christ. We decided that only
God would be able to bring those changes into JP life and heart so we start to pray every
morning and evening before going to bed not knowing were he was or if he was in some
trouble or if even he would come home that night. For the last six months, I have been
evangelizing with him and rebuilding our relationship back again. By allowing him to see
me as a Christian not only as his father that no matter what God and I would be there for
him always to help him in everything. I plant a seed in his heart by proclaiming that Gods
love for him was so great no matter what he had done as I would also. I would seat
around him when he was home speaking with my wife about our class here at Liberty and

would bring up scriptures in conversations bring him into the conversation in a way that
he would not fell threatened.
What was the reaction of the unbeliever?
I found that the seed was starting to grow he did still believe in God. At times I felt let he
wanted to make a commitment coming back to our Lord Jesus Christ. However, it was
like I person wanting to take his first jump out of a plane walk to the door and freezing
and not taking the final step. I would talk to him and explain that we are not perfect and
that even in our church we had problems. Our conversations were different more open
not as before I was able to tell him about my own problems as a teenager with my
parents. I was very surprised by the way; we were having a conversation. He would have
a lot more questions every time we would seat down I was very surprised the way our
conversations would go different than before. I would always tell him at the end
remember WWGD (what would God do) if you have to ask the question you already
know the answer. He would not get upset like before but was more curious about how my
classes with religion were going and asking questions.

How did you conclude the conversation in order to follow up?
I would always tell him that no matter what that if he was not ready to change his ways it
would not change my love for him neither God would stop loving him. I wanted him to
know also praying is very important that is one of the best weapons we have against evil.
Our Lord Jesus Christ has answer our prayers and I am here as proof of that love he has
for us. Our son has accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, baptized and has gone
back to bible study and is drug free. I continue to evangelism with him and today he
started to evangelize a friend that is lost in the world of alcohol and drugs as he was.
