Hello Caron,
I am very glad to see that you could find relatable themes in
all three Biblical heroes from this week’s readings. I had a bit of
trouble picking even one, they all did such amazing things, and I
am only just learning to walk in God’s word! I am also so
motivated to see that there is someone else who feels that they
are in the right place with Liberty University and that attending
classes is taking a step of faith with God! Martin Luther King Jr.
said this about faith, “Faith is taking the first step even when you
don’t see the whole staircase”.
There was something things you mentioned that I also found
myself asking questions about! After reading more about Moses I
found it very interesting that there was no other name he was
called by. In Exodus 4:27 the LORD says to Aaron to go meet
Moses calling him by his Egyptian name of Moses and not
something else that Aaron might have known him by when they
were small children. I hope you continue to find the faith you
need for school and in your life!

Hello Shanda,
I had to read over Gideon’s story a few times. I know that
he is portrayed as being a cowered but I have to disagree. Yes it
is very easy to see that he if fearfully of dying and is skeptical
even after seeing three signs from the LORD (Judges 6:17-22 &
6:26-40). In Judges 6:11 the angel of the LORD finds Gideon in a
wine press. And even leaves him there for a bit. I think it was to
see if Gideon would notice God watching him. After reading this
I, personally, see a young man who is not only scared but
someone who is thinking out side of the box! Someone who is
willing to try things a different way. Please correct me if I am
wrong but, nowhere does it say that Gideon’s father was a God
fearing man. In fact it is his father’s house that the altar to Baal
and Asherah poles were at (Judges 6:25). Gideon would have
known about God though stories but his family did not only
worship God. So what is to be expected of someone who does not
grow up in a house
that worships God whole-heartedly? I think that it was Gideon’s
willingness to do things differently that made him the perfect
candidate for doing God’s work! What do you think?

I think that because of Moses’ so many and intense changes
throughout his life his documented journey can touch a wide
range of people! I completely agree with you when you said that
God is always there. I have been through several intense changes
in my life and I know at every fork in the road, every twist and
turn and even at all of the U-turns God has always been there. As
I think over some of the hard and crazy times the pome
Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson comes to mind. I really
like the ending. It says “I don't understand why, when I needed
You the most, You would leave me." He whispered, "My precious
child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during
your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.".
