Week One: Squares, Triangles, Circles, and Hearts
Squares:
1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) God’s plan
for us was perfect and without flaw until the introduction of man’s own will to think for
himself. In this case, when Eve made a decision to listen to the serpent and eat from the
tree and then talked Adam into doing the same, it caused many second and third-order
effects that have ultimately shaped how man has lived today. God’s plan is to fix what
was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s instructions. [CartwrightHulshof
(2019). (p. 4). Everyday Bible Study, Second Edition
2. People are often seduced by sin because it plays to their own desires, curiosities and
even thoughts about how they view the world. It is easier for a person to follow the path
of sin even though they know it is against the will of God. The woman said to the
serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. 3 But about the fruit of the
tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.
(Gen 3:2-3) Eve was fully aware of God’s instructions about the tree of knowledge.
3. Even though many people sit in church and hear their Pastor’s teach the word of
God, some will still go against the word by leaning to their own understanding of many
topics. God’s warning about the tree of knowledge is symbolic of those things that we
should not do, yet Eve still allowed herself to be influenced by sin. (The ways of the
world)
4. The devil will use any form of lie, deceit or trickery to accomplish his goal. “No! You
will not die,” the serpent said to the woman.” 5 “In fact, God knows that when you eat it
your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Gen 3:4-5)
The devil knew this would appeal to Eve. Who wouldn't want to be like God, the one
who created us?
Triangles:
1. Sin was designed to be easier for people to accomplish than living righteously. The
devil knew that man would get in his own way and choose to disobey God if the way of
sin would result in his own self-fulfillment or pleasure.
2. People commonly mistake being a good person for being a good Christian. We can
commit several acts of kindness such as helping the elderly cross the street, reading
books to children at their schools or even serve food to the homeless at homeless
shelters but we can also still fall short of God’s will.
3. If we go through life without struggle or attacks from the devil, it means that he has
already comfortably secured us as one of his own.

Circles:
1. How has God’s plan for the relationship between man and woman been affected by
Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden?
2. What are some ways that we can counter our own desires and become more in tune
with what the word says?
Hearts:
1. Ultimately, there was a price for all humanity to pay, due to Adam and Eve’s actions
but it did not doom us. We still have a path to Heaven if we do what God asks of us. The
Bible is God’s story about his plan to rescue, redeem, and restore what was lost in the
fall of humanity. [CartwrightHulshof (2019). (p. 3). Everyday Bible Study, Second
Edition.
