BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: INTERPRETATION
Passage: Acts 9:36-43
A. Summarize: Tabitha, or Dorcas as the Greek language may also have her translated, was a
woman who was mentioned in Acts 9:36-43. The text states that she was from Joppa and
lived there. At the beginning of this passage, she is a compassionate woman who helps
others who are less fortunate and gives to them. A number of days after Tabitha passed
away due to an illness, the widows and the followers learned that Peter was nearby, and
they contacted him to have him join them by their side. Peter came to Tabitha with a
message and told her to "get up and bring her to the widows and believers." The message
was delivered by Peter. After Peter resurrected Tabitha, there was a subsequent rise in the
total number of individuals who acknowledged their faith in the Lord. The widows were
devoted Christians who believed that their lives would be lacking something important
when Tabitha was no longer a part of them. Tabitha devoted her entire life to helping
other people, particularly those who were in the greatest need. This was the most
important point that the author stated about Tabitha. As time went on, Tabitha's impact on
the lives of the disciples of God made a difference in how they developed. When it is said
that Peter "knelt and prayed over Tabitha," there is a great deal of significance behind
what is being said. He asserts that the fact that he was able to bring her back is evidence
of the solid relationship he has with God.
B. Identify: Peter and Tabitha had both made a giant leap of faith by completely submitting
their lives to God and carrying out acts in His name. In spite of the fact that we may face
our own challenges and questions, we have no choice but to put our whole faith and
dependence in God in order to advance our relationship with him. Tabitha's resurrection
was responsible for the birth of many Christs, which led to an increase in the population
of heaven. This was a direct result of her good work.
C. Check: A great deal of information regarding Tabith's (Dorcas') heart can be found in the
Believer's Bible Commentary. "a kind-hearted lady named Dorcas," the book describes
Tabitha as "a person who used the gifts she had been given to serve others around her in
any manner she was physically able," and "she was well-known for making garments, for
the destitute." Tabitha was a person who used the gifts she had been given to serve others
around her in any manner she was physically able. According to the author of the
commentary that accompanies this text, "Peter comes to Joppa without delay" and "knelt
down by Tabitha and prayed" when he arrived there. Peter also glorified God by making
use of the faith and devotion that he had in God in his heart. A great number of people
came to faith in the Lord as a result of the miraculous event of the resurrection (Nelson,
2016). In the final lines of this account, the Bible indicates that Peter remained with
Simon the tanner. This information comes from the Bible. According to the person who
authored this interpretation, this is a significant piece of information that can be used to
explain Peter's current state of faith. The fact that Peter lived with Simon was evidence
that he was no longer constrained by this particular Jewish scruple, and this was shown

by the fact that Peter lived with Simon. The purpose of this section is to illustrate and
demonstrate the significance of making use of the abilities that God has given us to
worship him, and every detail in this passage serves that purpose. Tabitha and Peter were
able to honor the only being who truly deserved it, which was God, as a result of their
high level of trust in Grace and their dedication to making use of the gifts that Grace had
given them.
