Similarities
a. Both versions describe how Phillip met with the Ethiopian Eunuch and went on to
baptize him
b. Both versions detail how Phillip was constantly being guided by the holy spirit on
what to do with regards to helping the Ethiopian
Differences
a. In the NLT the Eunuch is referred to as the treasurer of Ethiopia who works under the
Kandake by saying “So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch
of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia” ( , New Living Holy Bible
Translation). In the ESV he is described as a court official of Candace who is in
charge of all of the queen’s treasure by saying “And there was an Ethiopian,
a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of
all her treasure” (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. ESV® Text Edition:
2016)
b. The NLT describes the Eunuch’s mode of transportation as a carriage by saying
“Seated in his carriage” (Holy Bible, New Living Translation) while the ESV
describes his mode of transportation as a chariot by saying “seated in his chariot”
