I have always known about Murphy's law which says, "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong!" I will
even use it as an expression on days where it seems nothing is going right. It was interesting to read
about it. Not only dowe (and Gideon did)need toovercome ourfears... we alsoneed toovercome our
excuses! Overcoming ourfearsishard foranyperson. But it isessentialtonot be in fear,for that isnot
whatGodwantsforus.WeneedtopushpastexcusestostartwhatGodiscallingus.Gideonisabiblical example of
someone who seems afraid. But through his faith in God, he was made a great hero. (120)
Chapter8:
As Christians, we are striving to live our lives for Christ every day and be examples of him. One of the
hardest things to do is face our weaknesses. Bills say in Chapter 8, "Wine, women, and food," which is
what most men struggle with and can also be referred to as temptations. In today's society, there are
temptationseverytimeweturnawayfrom.Itishardsometimestosurroundourselveswithlike-minded
people.Hindsonsays,"Onereasonwedon'tdealwithtemptationmoreeffectivelyisourrefusaltoadmit we have
a problem with it." I thought this was well said and described temptation perfectly and our struggle with
it because first we must say it’s a problem. (120)

Standingupforwhatyoubelieveinisessentialinthisworld.Inthischapter,wereadbiblicalexamplesof figures in
the Bible that can be role models for us. When Daniel was 15, the Babylonians captured Jerusalem. Can
you imagine at 15 living through something like this? What would be your reaction? We also learn how
being compromising is essential. "Daniels's name has long been associated with taking a
standforfaithinGod."Howawesomeisittobeknownforthis.WhenIreadofthingslikethis,itmakes me feel so
encouraged. It reassures me that standing up for my faith and what I believe in is important and will
make a difference. (120)

and mentoring others in leadership and confidence. What I loved most was “This is very

Chapter 4 starts talking about the becoming of Moses and the ironic scenario where the son of an
Israelite was adopted by a it when the Pharaoh enslaved the Israelites. And how Moses had a
heartfelt for the slaves and fought against i. Moses wandered in the desert for forty years
following Gods mission and was able to talk to God for d slavery from Egyptian control. God
encouragedMosestofollowhisordersanddothemaccordingly.GodEgypttohelpMosesalong the way,
forecasted the false gods they worshipped. God separated the Red Sea, Once again to show
Moses that God will always guide you the way through the wilderness.
Hello Linsey! I love your summary of chapter 4. All through out high school I was on student leadership
or student council and I have a great love of teaching and mentoring others in leadership and
confidence. My favorite part of your post was “Moses wandered in the desert for forty years
