COURAGEOUS FAITH 1
Three key ideas from the chapter on this character in Courageous Faith.
Religion, without a doubt, teaches us various values in our life, including courage,
bravery, and, most importantly, faithfulness. Dr. Hindson's book "Courageous Faith" gives
complete context stories of several Bible figures, offering a unique viewpoint on them, and it
packed some significant truths into its different chapters. Chapter twelve presents different key
elements about Daniel and his friends; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Hindson, 2003).
Daniel was one of those persons who was highly praised in the past for his character. His name
has long been associated with taking a stand for faith in God. Despite being immersed in
Babylon, Daniel and his friends were courageous people of character who teach different us
different vital elements.
To begin with, we can learn from Daniel and his friends that one of the most important
lessons is to stand firm in one's faith. The faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was put to
the test when they were forced to worship a gold statue. Even though they were about to be cast
into a flaming pit, the three men maintained their faith. God evidently rescued them because of
their loyalty.
Secondly, all through the chapter, Daniel and his friends portray the virtue of bravery.
Whatever scenario Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego found themselves in, they met it
with boldness. While Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the blazing furnace,
Daniel stayed in a den full of lions. It's evident that they would not have gone through all of this
if they had given up, but they persevered and survived because God was with them.
One last key element is there is only one God. Daniel demonstrated to the Babylonian
Kings that he believed in and would worship just one God. Daniel constantly prayed to God in a

span of three days while in a den full of Lions, and indeed God heard him and answered his
prayers.
Two lessons learned about this character
Reading about Daniel taught me that it is most important to protect my faith, even in the
most complex circumstances. Every challenging scenario we encounter as believers should move
us closer to God rather than drive us away. We should constantly look to God to lead us in the
right direction.
Similarly, I have learned to let God be my guide and protector. Even though Daniel was
thrown in a pit full of Lions, he continued praying to God. Likewise, Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego state that "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve can save us
from it” (Hindson, 2003). God indeed protected Daniel and his friends for believing in him.
One way you can use what you have learned from your reading on this character
This information will help me reflect on my own actions. God can use an ordinary person
like me to accomplish remarkable things. All I ought to do now is follow in the footsteps of
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and live my life relying on the Lord for guidance.
